The challenge to end all challenges

Thanks Team Flat captain The Halogen ones are unfortunately too casual. I need these for potentially seeing clients, so I'm trying to steer clear of huge bows, ruffles, zippers, jewels etc. They need to look professional.

The AGL's are definitely along the lines of what I was envisioning, but $300 is out of the question

I currently have extreme foot and knee pain, and I have been looking for new sandals that I can wear without hobbling. According to my unscientific research these brands all have: Anti-pronation, Torsional Stability, Removable Insole, Firm Heel Counter and a Firm Medial Midsole. Some of the shoes are cute (and some are hideous). I have only looked on Zappos so far for these brands. Some brands have sandals, shoes and boots available.

No ideas sorry Maya, only commiserations. I have been searching for pointy-toed flats for ages (after 2 of the pairs I got made in Vietnam died). The pairs that wore out were emerald green and red, and I haven't seen anything instores or online that comes close to replacing them. My purple and black pairs are still hanging on though, thank goodness!!!

Maya, those Halogen ones are cute and look like the AGL's. Keep checking the site to see if your size comes available, they might work for you. Keep an eye out for the AGL's later in the year when NAS comes around. They are the only comfortable flat that I have ever owned, and they stay on my narrow heels. They have molded to my feet and I love them. Very soft leather.

Oh, I was going to suggest you try Tsubos but they will be much too casual for what you want. My feet are super fussy and in my younger days I just ignored the pain and discomfort and wore shoes for looks. Now I am old and cranky and won't put up with such foolishness. Tsubo shoes have been my friend!

I vote splurge for the AGLs. Could be completely worth it if they're truly comfy. I'm toying with the idea of splurging for a pair, too.

By the way, I can check to see if those Halogen ones you like are available in a 6.5W. Sometimes the online inventory isn't the same as the store inventory.

Actually the AGL's aren't perfect. I wore them for a day of museum and pavement pounding in Sydney. My feet were hurting some at the end of the day.

Sorry, I cannot spend $300 on flats. I'm not a conservative spender but I do know my limits and that is just not possible.

Those are not too high Anna but they are not really dressy or suitable for my style of dress.

Marianna, it would be awesome if you could look it up. I thought Nordstorm had synced its online inventory with store inventory though?

I don't know. I often compare online inventory with store inventory and it varies slightly. Sometimes if there are only 1-2ish of the item left in the company the site won't show it as available.

Sorry, I forgot to look at the price :(. These were on the NAS for $169 and thats the number I have in my head. It's a lot of money for flats.

Anna, you probably need more of a supportive heel. And I think you'd rock those heeled sneakers in today's morning post.

Maya, Angie is correct and that is why I suggested to keep an eye out for them at NAS time. I know you need something in the interim, but I really do think that the $169 will be well spent if these shoes work for you. The way I look at it, one pair of AGL's is worth more than two pairs of tortuous shoes that you can only wear once or twice. I really do think you should check them out if they go on sale again. It will be worth the investment.

ETA: I had mine on for 9 hours on Saturday, and 5 1/2 of those hours were spent at the mall with Beth. Can you tell I really love these shoes?

Those are definitely too casual. I need professional looking flats. Maybe this isn't a clear enough picture but I'm not sure how else to best describe them. I guess something along the lines of French Sole ballet flats.

Maya, how do you feel about a cuffed style? I have the same problem as you, with my feet refusing to stay in flats without a strap, and honestly an ankle cuff or strap is the most comfy for me. Is this too casual?

(I personally found these too wide both in the foot and ankle, but they were very comfy. I have another pair from Biviel (that's no longer available) that aren't as comfy but fit my foot better.)

Diana, I have actually been stocking those for ages and I LOVE them. I'm not sure if I can get away with them though. They might be too edgy. In my office, edgy is fine--fabulous, even--but for clients I feel like I need to be more subdued and skew a little more classic. But maybe if I found something with a more subtle strap that would be the key.

Una, those are beautiful shoes. I think I need the strap further back though, to keep my ankle from slipping out.

I'm not intentionally being fussy! I told you it would be a challenge Budget, appropriateness, and comfort all come into play. It's tough.

Maya, these are the ones I actually have - apparently they are still available on 6 pm in a couple of sizes. The strap's a little more subtle and they actually fit my foot better than the Nayas, but are unfortunately not nearly as comfortable (but they're OK after stretching the front a bit to fit my bunion).

Maya, here are a few to consider. My pair of dress flats is Pikolinos brand, styled kind of like oxfords but without laces, so they come down over the foot a nice long way. It took about a mile for those shoes to break in, but now they fit like a glove. I also have a pair of Munros (2" heel) which didn't need any breaking in and are as comfortable as can be.

Guys, I can't wear ballet flats that don't scrunch or don't have a strap, no matter how comfortable they are. They just don't work for my feet and will fall off. I appreciate the recommendations but would prefer to stick to styles I know I can wear without clenching my toes to keep them on.
