Thanks, Mo! Yes, it takes some effort to do this, but I think it's worth it. I often flicker through these pics in the morning to get inspiration, or when I'm packing for travels. Even if I don't directly consult the photos all the time, I think it is nice knowing what goes with what.
Una, the purple pencil is in fact a sheath, but I agree completely - a pencil skirt in this color is great with grey.
Angie, thank you for mentioning the jumper, I'm glad you liked it. I like this particular shade of brown on me, particularly with something black and/or white. I didn't pay very much for it - it's just some trendy fast fashion spice for my wardrobe
Where to begin? All is forgiven Ingunn. Life does creep up on us, but so what. I'm just glad to be rewarded for my waiting with such a fabulous post. I LOVE all of the outfits made using white jeans. They will definitely inspire my own outfits with white jeans this fall.
Ingunn, thank you for sharing this! Since Angie's article on capsules last Sept, I've always really liked the way you create these capsules and make some really interesting outfits with them! This truly is inspiring!
Wow! First of all, I looked at the BR capsule and was rather uninspired. Then you shared your versions and it's full of inspiration. I prefer yours one thousand percent!
Also, thanks for sharing your first foray into the BR capsules. It was a nice reminder that this sort of thing takes practice and time to develop and Rome wasn't built in a day. You looked great back then, but today you just look so perfectly, casually, thrown together stunning. It can be so easy to forget that that effortless look does take effort.
I also loved that you got much more versatility out of your purple sheath than BR got out of that pink one. They should consult with you before the next capsule
Wow you rock a capsule challenge. Gorgeous colors here, the red and purple and blues are so lovely together. And refreshing from all the brown and olive green I see lately. And my favorite piece is that printed sweater, what a fun print and a nice drape to it, it looks very comfy. I am jealous of your white jeans, my bootcuts had to be put aside because the ground is already too dirty to sport them anymore. And I can't find any straight leg one's in the stores. The white is lovely paired with darker colors. Superb job!
I hate to have to post and run, but can't let this wonderful thread get away without telling you how much I appreciate all your hard work and posting it. There is so much great inspiration here, both in your fab outfits and the pleasures and practicality of capsule building. You are the master builder!
I just love your black/brown bag for its structure and the way the brown bookends your hair while the black will repeat any black that you have in your outfits. Love the purple dress and skirt and new graphic pullover. Your red coat goes with everything beautifully.
Speechless! Well , not quite because I must say you are BRILLIANT. THat purple skirt and red coat are stunning. Ingunn, you just rock the jacket and jeans look so well! I love that preppy, relaxed but chic look and you do it so well. ALso love the sweater you chose. And I love the beanie too. Just brilliant!
I've had a bit of a play with my wardrobe (yet to take photos - will get to that ASAP) and have come up with 2, almost 3 variations on this capsule. I've varied mine a little, as we're heading into summer here, so I'll need considerably less layers It was a fun little game in front of the TV last night though.
A couple of things I found:
1. The lower half combination of 2 trousers and 1 skirt is more than enough for me! 2. For most of our summer I won't need a topper of any kind, but I've included a light weight jacket or cardigan just to allow a bit of a play with layering. 3. I feel like I need an extra top or 2! Especially in summer where I need at least 1, if not 2 per day (depending on whether I am going out again in the evening). 4. I need accessories to really "own" any combination of outfits.
I've added some extra items to make my capsules work - 2 pairs of shoes, 2 necklaces, and 1 scarf, plus 2 camis which I often use for my version of summer layering.
Once I pull everything out and rearrange my wardrobe, I'll start a new post. I think it could be a good way for me to prioritise what I need to keep vs what needs to be culled.
Thank you again, everyone! I'm very happy that you liked my version, and for all your lovely comments. YLFers are best, period.
Ramya, the jumper is from Lindex and not very expensive (enabling, enabling)! You will need XS, as it runs large.
Traci, you are so sweet. Thanks!
annaj, this sounds exciting! I'm like you, I need more tops than bottoms, and for summer, a light layer normally is enough. I can't wait to see your version(s)!
Wow, these look like a professional look-book. You have some wonderful pieces. You clearly know what you're doing when shopping and styling your wardrobe.
Ingunn, I so appreciate the time you put into creating and then photographing and arranging these capsules !! I love how you wear your clothes, and that sheath dress on you...fabulous!!
You are making it so much easier for me to really utilize my wardrobe...thank you, thank you...
Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. It's nearly impossible to pick a favorite, but the red and purple combo stopped me in my tracks, as did the white jeans and animal print top. I'm super impressed at your commitment and creativity.
BRAVO! Ingunn, your capsule creations are works of art! I must admit the BR capsule really didn't do much for me, and I am a capsule lover! But yours is very inspiring and is so much more appealing to me. Makes me want to go play in my closet today. Thanks for sharing all your hard work with us.
