The best thing I bought yesterday

Hi, all. This was going to be a post coming from an angle of K/R: oh, should I have bought this? I shouldn't be buying statement pieces, I need essentials and layering tops especially, this is Eileen Fisher and even though $100 is not bad for EF, is this the best use of my money as I try building a wardrobe from the ground up, and still need pretty much everything? Etc etc etc. I was looking for enabling, frankly.

But after styling this at home this morning, I'm realizing that this is the smartest thing I've bought in a long while. I should buy ten more similar pieces! Because it ties things together and is a huge step toward creating A WARDROBE THAT WORKS FOR ME. Parts that play well together and suddenly I have some outfits I really like, without thinking about it too much.

I'm really excited. Suddenly I can grab a few things from my closet and tie them together quickly, and I like how it looks!

Thank you all for the hand-holding, though--I definitely still need it!

Mochi, I'm just gonna say it already (please take this as the compliment I intend it to be), you are just so cute! Your smile, your hair and your eyes- adorable.
I love the top! It suits you and looks like it will be well loved. Good for you for bringing it home and trying it out. Way to often I balk at a price tag and end up with 2 or 3 pieces that add up to the same that end up taking up space in my head and my closet but that I just don't reach for.

Excellent purchase! I have a top that works similarly for me. It is definitely a statement piece, but it contains every single neutral in my closet. The darned thing works with everything I try. I predict you will have this top down to a CPW of pennies in no time!

I love it too - as I love a lot of EF pieces. I agree that this looks like a wardrobe builder for you.....for anyone of us, really. Where the heck did you find an EF top for only $100 is what I want to know!!!

How exciting! This seems like just the sort of drapey shape and abstract print you should be looking for to add a little artsy interest to your outfits. It also adds that feminine element you've been looking for without being frilly or girly.

The asymmetric hem works so well with the leather jackets and skinny jeans.
I never would guess that you're building your wardrobe from the ground up. The outfits all are quite different but very cohesive.

Yes! When EF works, it really works. I'm wearing a merino tunic by her today. If you know your size the Rack often has fantastic deals. I got an orange knit linen dress there for $29!

Wow, YES!!! The new top is amazing and makes trully fab outfits here, but your shoes are also gorgeous!!!! Wow, best set of outfits ever seen by You!!!
