(Pictures taken after a rehearsal so wearing a leotard and tights. Too hot and tired to try real outfits.)
Short answer: It's a wild thing for me but I love it and I'm keeping it.
Long answer: I love the colors. I like pretty colors, not too brown or gray, and this is just right. It's like mushed sweet strawberries and the cream they've been sitting in for a while, so it's pink. Not bright, not hot, just right. The fit is truly oversized. The body is wide and straight, the shoulders also wide, the armholes large and low, and the sleeves full and pleated into the cuffs. There's no shoulder pads... and I can't tell that there's even any collar or lapel structure! No lining except in the sleeves, no facings, and no seam allowances! The fabric is the same on both sides. I'm quite impressed by the construction.
[Sewing nerd aside: I'm going to have ask some of my fashion/couture sewing friends how this was done. The edges are finished, and look almost like it's 2 layers with seam allowances turned to the inside. But the fabric doesn't feel like two layers at all. Maybe it's fused together? The side seams are very neat and narrow, probably narrow flat felled (how jeans are done). I'm very impressed by the workmanship.]
I don't think it's all the warm; there's no lining and the fabric isn't heavy like regular coating. It's got a good drape, which helps it from looking bulky. It's soft and somewhat fuzzy to the touch. 55% wool, so not too spongy. I know I will wear it with jeans, and possibly with non-fluffy skirts/dresses. I don't have much between my small jackets and my puffers, so this might fill a hole. I could layer a jacket underneath if I wanted to.
Sizing info: My measurements per the size chart would put me in Small for bust/waist and L/XL for hip. (My widest point is upper thigh.) I got a Medium and I can't imagine it would improve going up or down. The hip just fits (over leotard) without pulling. I'm 5'9" and it hits just above the knee. My shoulders are narrow and my arms not long, and the sleeves come about to the thumb joint. It might be hard to get the too-long sleeve look with broader shoulders or longer arms.
Other items:
BP green polo sweater is a lovely color and very soft, comfortable knit. But even in Small it's not the fit I'm looking for, hugely wider in the body than I think I can use. Too long to be cropped with skirts or with jeans, though I will double check properly before I return. I haven't decided if I should try the next couple sizes down.
Treasure & Bond blouse - I didn't expect to love this as much as I do! It feels super nice on (again Small), good fit with the shoulders and arms. The embroidery is well done, pretty colors (more detail than was visible online) that match several skirts and three lines down the sleeves. The body is just the right width to blouse nicely without being too puffy. The fabric is fairly heavy, a cotton dobby weave (the little dots woven in) and with random thicker threads. It feels like traditional European "peasant" dress, with the shirts made of linen. I ordered an XS as well but actually doubt it will fit better.
T&B hat - I like the colors but it's both heavier and floppier than I was hoping for. I'm pretty picky about hats, though!
So far this is a winner of an NAS for me!
