I need another elevated wardrobe essential navy coat that is very versatile, and not too dressy. It was listed as a style goal because my 11 year old navy military coat gets far too much wear.

I have had a turquoise wool coat on my shopping list for YEARS.

I passed on three old coats last year due to mega wear and need to replenish.

My life is about: outerwear, sneakers, and bags.

Outerwear: I am outside all the time because I walk almost everywhere and have Sam to walk too. (We live in a loft downtown). Four seasons, lots of nasty weather, and feel cold fast. The pandemic has not changed this need one bit.

Sneakers: Mega walking. Not working with clients in person at the moment. Don't wear anything else. Maybe I will wear sneakers to client meetings in future.

Bags: Because I am not in a car, I need to carry important stuff with me all the time. The pandemic has not changed this need at all. Quite the opposite, actually. I am now NEVER without a bag. And bags are my thing. Horses for courses.....

But back to the coats! I got them both on discount.

Have ordered the KC coat from the NAS. Waiting. Curious!

It will compete with these from BODEN that I just received - A navy teddy faux shearling, and a turquoise wool bouclé coat with a fun '60s party at the back. Both Boden coats are impeccable, fit beautifully, and I love to order and support sustainable and ethical Boden.

The navy KC coat will have to fight hard to win over the navy Boden coat. The battle has begun...

Is the turquoise Boden coat lined? Can’t tell from the website. A little birdie told me aqua/turquoise might be the colour of the year for 2021.

Edited: just re-read the Boden description, and yes, it is lined.

The turquoise, I imagine, you are keeping.
The navy coats are such different styles The Boden is longer and has a more defined high-ish waist and flair so it would need to fall at just the right place. Which could be more elegant if fits in all the right places, but kind of a mess if not. It is longer too, and you need longer coats sometimes. I don't think the navy translates as well to the suede and shearling as the natural colors, but maybe I am too conventional. Would be something that has to be assessed IRL--luxury faux vs faux faux. The KC is crisper, and a bit more peacoat-like if that is really versatile for you. But will it be too big?
Have to wait and see.

Keep the turquoise coat no matter what you decide about the navy. I would them keep the. Boden navy coat as it is different. Since your wear a navy coat often, maybe you should keep both navy coats. Providing they each fit well and fill a need.

Navy coats are different enough that you should keep both if they pass the Angie test. And definitely keep the turquoise - beautiful color that is not easy to find. Can’t wait for the photos.

Angie, what size did buy in the turquoise coat? The Boden size chart says I would need a 10 or 12. I wear a 6 in US sizes. Do they really run that small?

Oh the long navy pea coat looks so pretty! I love a good pea coat, and that longer length is perfect.
The turquoise coat is a gem too, if it fits well it’s a keeper.

Angie, I have been looking at the Boden navy coat because I need to update my coat capsule. Just realized it is on deep discount since it is last season and almost completely sold out, but there is one left in what I assume is my size. I read the reviews and they are divided. Lots of them very happy with it, but also many are saying that sleeves are running tight and that is difficult to layer and also that is creating a lot of lint everywhere. Would you agree with this assessments?

unfrumped, I love the navy version of the shearling coat so much more than the earth tones for me despite it being iconic in shades of beige. Good point about the KC peacoat vibe!

Lynn, are you looking on Boden UK or USA? The sizes differ greatly! I bought the coat in a US2. That's a UK6. Boden tends to run TTS. Sometimes it fits me, sometimes I have to alter a size down.

Minaminu, the turquoise coat is not as warm as the navy, and that's dead right. I do well with an assortment of coat thicknesses.

Anchie, if anything the navy shearling coat runs a bit big! I need to adjust the buttons to make the fit a bit narrower. Plenty of room everywhere. Roomy on the sleeves too. I just tried it on with quite a chunky pullover - no problem at all. I like that it is roomy. Lots of good layering possibilities. As for lint, I haven't noticed. And Sam is hypoallergenic so he does not shed.

Angie - thanks for the response, and glad to hear that is roomy, I like roomy coats too. About the lint - I didn’t explain correctly, sorry, I meant if it is creating lint, read in reviews that faux shearling is creating fuzz and leaving it on the clothes under it.

Oh! I just put it on with a WHITE pullover, and no fuzz. Yet. I will try again later.

Navy looks super cozy, but not as luxe to me. I wonder if the relaxed look will make it look less polished as it wears? Especially with trendy jeans - will the whole look feel too dressed down for your taste? The structure and colour of the turquoise looks like a slam dunk for you.
