Oh-oh, no wonder I cannot make up my mind!
Angie, this is what my hubby says - keep both!
One part of me whispers to keep the dove because it is easier to find a black bag. I really like the dove color and I don't have any fear of it getting dirty or being too light for winter: I am wearing cream trousers and white leather jacket all winter long! On the other hand I really like the black one too . It was the first ever black bag I got attracted to, for some reason no brainer black bag is the hardest thing for me to find. I think this is because I am not attracted to the color and therefore everything else should be able to stand on its own. Somehow this black bag does pull at my heart strings... but so does the dove one!
I can keep both really, especially now when I am returning almost all my JCrew order and shoes which did not fit.. and when my Theory dream was punctured! Angie, do you think it is a wise thing to keep both? I do admire the shape and style of this bag and gold hardware and the fact that zipper extends to the bottom on both sides....as for the colors I think they both can play a role in my wardrobe. After all there is a reason why I never owned a black bag yet...
I guess I need to sleep on this...

I think both too Sveta. They both do different things. I love you in your J. Renees! I adore the bag style. You chose well.

I agree with Angie and your husband - keep both!

Gosh that's a tough choice but I think I prefer the black one with your coats.

Oh I love both! Do you already have a black bag? I know no matter what color bag I have, I always like to have one black bag. If you don't have a good quality black bag, I would keep the black. If you do, go for the gray - it's beautiful!

Yes, you need to sleep on it. I think they're both lovely, but I find the dove colored one more interesting. I do think we need to see a few more pics, perhaps with different footwear and no coat since you'll be removing it indoors.

And what a treat to get a little outerwear fashion show while helping you decide. I'm thoroughly enjoying all your shopping posts, Sveta!

OK, i'm late to this, but I'm not looking at the other responses. I'm going with my initial gut reaction, which surprises me because it's not black!

I really like how the dove grey plays with your wardrobe. I think either one works beautifully, but the dove is really appealing to me for your style. It stands out just a bit more, but is seasonless (to my eye) and distinctive.

Now I'm curious to see if I'm swimming with the tide or I'm an outlier. Off to read the other responses...

I vote for the dove. I like how it brightens up your outfits, yet is still neutral and versatile. If you keep both, will you get tired of the shape?

Both are beautiful, and perhaps you should keep both. If it's only to be one, I vote, hands down for Dove. I like it best, but I also agree that it's far easier to find interesting black bags.

I love the pop that the dove adds to your outfits. I am not a big fan of the black mainly because its predictable. And you are right in thinking that you will always find loads of black bags. BUT I also think that if you like the structure and style of the bag then you could also keep both if your budget allows. I do that too!

I like the black with everything and the lighter bag with some of your outerwear...so if you want something that will look good with everything then it should be the black one. However...if you can swing it, why not keep both?

My mind says keep the black. So practical.
My heart says keep the dove. It lights up your outfits.

If you love the shape and construction, I say keep both!

I am back for round two. I think if you really want both, perhaps keep the black and look at a few of the other bags in dove (or similar shade) for a slightly different shape/style for the dove. Bags are worn daily so the duplicate might feel too repetitive after a short period of time and since black is harder for you to find, I think it is the keeper.

It sounds like you have found Your Black Bag. So you should definitely keep it. That being said, the dove also looks marvelous with the colors and the styles in your wardrobe. Black and dove grey are both neutrals; if you can afford to, why not keep both?

If one HAS to go back, I vote for the black. There will always be black contenders for a place in the wardrobe, but the Dove is just an eye catching bag. Understated, no frills, but you just have to stop to take a second look at it.

High five, Mr. Sveta. This shape of satchel has brilliant longevity.

Sveta, I missed the news about your punctured Theory dream - very busy with clients at the moment. What happened?

Dove! It looks lighter & happier...less somber in other words

I like the Dove best, many of your coats are dark and the dove is a nice lighter color contrast here. Also I think a black bag is easier to find (more choices) whereas that dove grey is a unique color I don't see very often.

I love both, and the style is versatile enough to duplicate. The different colors also serve different needs, right? Keep both.

I like both bags and would want to keep them both. But if I had to choose just one, I would give the edge to the dove gray bag as it is more unique.

The dove color seems like a more modern choice to me since it's kind of breaking some fashion rules (about using a light bag in winter). I've been off black bags in general for a while, but with your dark hair, it would be a better choice for you than me. You also might have the black one longer, as it won't show wear as fast. The dove one might date because it's a little trendier IMO. Definitely sleep on it. The right one just may reveal itself to you in a dream. Happy Birthday!
