That Land's End Swing Coat ...

Here we go ... I got the Land's End Swing Coat because I loved the style and got a great deal on it (40% off!).

They didn't carry it in the store but I was able to try on similar coats in this size. I find that top / shoulders fits ok and it just gets progressively larger the further down we go. I'll be able to wear a few layers underneath without too much issue.

The arms are long enough (always a problem) but almost look sloppy. I think overall the fit isn't great. It feels like I'm wearing a man's coat that is just ill-fitting.

That said, my boyfriend likes it. We took a few photos and they aren't the greatest but they give you an idea. I'm flat-footed in the shots but wearing a typical pair of boot cut jeans that I normally wear. Even if I were wearing shoes they would be flats or something similar.

The boy thinks I should keep it for awhile and keep looking for something else if I want but he likes it overall. It's not fitted and I'm not sure if that's a good thing for me or not.
Thoughts?

The colour is gorgeous on you. But the coat is much too big. I say keep looking.

I think that if I went a size down it would be too small on the shoulders. It's already a little tight there now

Alternations would probably cost me more than I spent on the coat.

The colour is gorgeous on you, the shape is promising, but I also think the coat is too big for you. Is there a way to exchange for a smaller size? Did you order Lands End online? It should be reasonably simple to send it back and re-order a smaller size. That said, I don't know what their policies are in terms of exchanges and if something was bought on sale that maybe isn't on sale anymore. Might be worth a call or e-mail to customer service? As far as I know, you can return any online Lands End purchase to a local Sears store - at least that was the case last fall.

In the meantime, you are on the right track with the colour and shape - just *fabulous* on you. That purple colour really makes your eyes stand out and your skin glow.

Thing is - it really is too big on you, and it's well worth the hassle of re-ordering or exchanging for a smaller size - in fact, you might need to go down *two* sizes in this for it to fit you properly.

What do you think? Are you willing to schlep on over to a local Sears store, return and re-order in a size or two smaller?

I agree that the coat looks far too big. I think you can find a coat that fits and flatters you better, although the colour is beautiful.

I tried on several of the coats at Land's End prior to making the purchase and they fit fine in the store. This one is cut far more generous than they are which is both gorgeous and too big.

This particular coat isn't sold in my local store, though I can see if they are carried in another Sear's store.

My boyfriend said that he thinks that these coats are cut for bigger people (very vanity sized) and I'm just not a big person. I still think big sometimes.

That is a 10 and I tried on 10's in the store but they all fit much closer to the body.
