Do you have one item of clothing that you really want, but just can't seem to find? For me it's the perfect mid-weight black jacket. I want something that I can wear to the pub, a smart-casual restaurant, as outerwear in moderately chilly weather, but light enough to leave on indoors without dripping in sweat.

I think I have been searching for this jacket since I was old enough to pick out my own clothes.

A mid weight leather jacket is probably ideal but I have yet to find The One.

I agree perfect jackets are hard to find. I almost always find it difficult to find something if I want it in a specific color. For me, as I know others on this board have, it has been a perfect whie, or even in light colors, t's that are not made of such thin fabric that they require a cami or something under them. just don't make them in any price range!

White jeans. I keep trying them on but can never seem to find a pair that fit properly, are not see-through, and are the correct length. I have never yet managed to purchase a pair. I have high hopes again for this season but who knows.

My still elusive item is the perfect extra-wide, shiny black belt with silver buckle(s) in a size large so that I can wear it over coats and jackets and tunics, camouflaging my spare tire while emphasizing my relatively slim waist. Oh, and I prefer it buckle in front.
For years, I searched for over-the-knee, low-heel, chanel-style boots that didn't cost $1600. Those finally turned up at Zara in 2014

Mander - what about a coated cotton jacket? I thought there were a few of those out this season - I have one from last year I found via Ralph Lauren at Macy's.

Comfortable riding boots with a 13-14" tall shaft, 14"ish calf diameter, need to accommodate my custom orthotics and the icing on the cake would be if they were waterproof. Not asking much, huh...!!

Many things seem elusive to me. How about clothes in general? Navy booties, jeans, white jeans are a few that come immediately to mind . Navy booties just don't exists in stores, so it's not "me" and my issues; the jeans obviously are issues I have with fit and flattery.

Winter coat that is dressy but reasonably priced, and not too glitzy!!

An item like this will not get a lot of use every year, as our climate is temperate, and I wear my casual coats much more often. But it should last me 10 plus years. I probably need to up my budget...

A pair of flat cognac shoes in a size 10.5 N or 11 N, either a ballet flat or a loafer, but a loafer with a low vamp. Major criterion: not frumpy! Hard to define but I know frumpy when I see it. I just returned four pair to Nordstrom for their high frump factor.

Thanks, ladies for your navy boot suggestions. Really thoughtful of you! I'm in Canada - and US ordering is not a smart option at the moment, given the current exchange rate and returns issues. But good to know there are options out there somewhere

-Oversized sweaters that don't make me look like an old lady with Kleenex in her pockets

A blazer that fits properly and is in a good neutral color from my palette. The sleeves are long enough and the width isn't overly wide, the length isn't too short. I have yet to find one but I keep trying.....

Sweaters that do not (1) contain wool, or (2) pill. I spent what seemed like tens of hours reading labels and online reviews. The vast majority of sweaters I liked contained wool. IF I found one that did not contain wool, the online reviews said it pilled terribly.

Cute jackets, texstyle! I haven't found one like it on this side of the pond. It's been nothing but thigh-length khaki or olive parkas in my size over here for some reason.

I like this Barbour jacket, for instance, but they don't make them big enough for me.
