hey everyone!

thank you so much for playing along with the clue theme week challenge, and for those who didn't participate, thanks for commenting and critiquing our outfits! i had so much fun doing this, and a huge part of that was sharing it with all of you.

so thanks to kristen, bella, kari, niva, anne, tam, dawn, eva, sara, jean, legacyofpearl, loulou, shell, chewyspaghetti, and anyone else whom i may have forgotten who posted outfits! i even got a couple of bloggers to participate, including our favorite academichic ladies and kasmira. THAT was flattering.

i'm tossing around some ideas for upcoming challenges, so if anyone's interested, here's what i may or may not challenge you to in the near future... assuming any of these meet with your approval!

- build an outfit based on your favorite literary character

- build an outfit based on a nursery rhyme

- the 'no style crutch' challenge - give up your style crutch for a week - so if you always fall back on a 'uniform' it's your chance to make up new combos

- the 'bring it back' challenge - pick a trend you wore in your childhood/teens and find a way to make it work with your current style

- the ylf challenge chain - challenge one member of ylf who choses to compete to do one thing that breaks them out of their comfort zone. that member in turn challenges another ylf member, and so on, until we complete the circle of those who want to compete!

Great ideas! I LOVE the literary character theme (I would, being a former lit major and unabashed bookworm.) If you don't end up going with this theme I might just use it for inspiration on my own.

I also think the "bring it back", "no style crutch" or "challenge chain" would be fun for the group to play.

The Clue theme has been so much fun - can't wait to see what's next.

Hanna - it has been really fun and I have even dressed as the Clue characters but negligent in posting because of time challenges and being photo challenged. I will do so at some point.

Of the new ones you list, I like bring it back, no style crutch, challenge chain. Another one would be strut your stuff - YLF members either take the body part they'd said they liked the most in a previous post and accentuate that all week; or take their most flattering color/silhouette/style and use that in different and creative ways each day of the week. I would love to see something along these lines or others that calls upon us to build on what we know works and works well instead of fretting about things that don't work well for us.

I love the 'no style crutch', 'bring it back' and ylf challenge chain! I think a broader challenge like these could invite a lot of people to play, *and* to really stretch themselves creatively in rewarding ways.

I will confess I am less fond of the literary characters/nursery rhymes ideaa only because that's not really my thing, and the Clue challenge was a fairly similar idea.

Sihaya's Strut Your Stuff sounds great too!

kristen, that's exactly what i was thinking - that the first two challenges i posted were a little too much like the clue challenge - but i also figured they'd make fun one-off, one-day challenges - sort of like the sartorial version of prompts for writer's block! they are more to teach us about drawing inspiration and creativity from unlikely sources, i think, and conveying mood.

you're definitely right in that the other challenges are a lot broader, and that's why i thought they'd be good for us as a group, because they build a lot on what we've been trying to learn through this site! that's why sihaya's idea is also so awesome, it's changing your mindset and how you think about your body, not just style.

keep the input coming, guys! how in the world will i decide what to wear this morning?!

Hee! I was having the same panic this morning, Hanna. But then I realized I've got a ton in my closet that I've had to put off wearing for the last week; I have outfits ideas all backed up in my head, and I'm free to wear them now!

And if anyone is scrambling for ideas, Kimberly at Fab Finds Under $50 posted a list of outfit suggestions for the month. You don't have to wear them all, but if any spark an idea, go for it!

I love this - I can imagine this actually pushing me to try new things. I actually did do a lot of the Clue challenges but wore things on the wrong days. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take pictures because it was a really hectic week at work.

I like all the ideas - as a lit prof. I, of course, liked the literary character idea, but I do think that it's similar to the Clue challenge. I like the idea of giving up a style crutch & strut your stuff.

What about posting a painting/visual image and having people build an outfit inspired by the painting/image?

I am down for anything! But I do like the "strut your stuff" and "challenge chain" ideas over the others. But that is mainly because I don't think I can do a nursery rhyme char. Maybe on the lit char. Growing up in India there never really were any "trends" as far as western styles go, when I was growing up. I was the trendiest kid wearing my shorts and skorts. It is very different now though.

Anyways, I also like the idea of using visual imagery for inspiration. I have also been reading several bloggers using images of interior decor as palettes for outfits http://geekthreads.blogspot.co.....ntest.html, maybe something to keep in mind?

Someone mentioned monopoly, that sounds like fun too! Leicester Square anyone?

I have loved following what everyone wore for the Clue challenge. Another idea for a topic in June would be the traditional wedding jingle of what the bride should wear spread over 4 days (or maybe the 5th day could be something like Lace or Satin) "Something OLD, something NEW, something BORROWED, something BLUE."

oo, this conversation is turning into a total inspiration list. i love the idea of pictures as prompts - for last-minute inspiration! i think we should do that periodically - just post a picture and see what people draw from it.

OK, how about a print week with a different sort of print each day...floral, animal, stripe, dot, and geometric ( maybe someone can come up with a better list)?

Now I DEF need a clothing budget LOL Before YLF, I would only buy something 2 times out of the 10 times I would go shopping. Now I come home with stuff every single time :-O

Hanna, I missed the Clue challenge but wanted to applaud you for coming up with it and leading it so cheerfully and creatively. This is such a super fun project. Anyway, I plan to participate in your next challenge, looks like you're not lacking for ideas. The creative juices are flowing...

I like ALL the ideas ladies, and thank you Hanna, for once again orchestrating the challenge. You are fab. You could also think of dressing day challenges like this:

o Pick your favorite outfit

o Choose a closet orphan and make it work

o Wear one item of clothing in three differnt ways in one week - no jeans or black slacks allowed.

o Wear a voluminous item

o Sport the leggings look

o Frock day

I have many more ideas if you like these.

WOW - this sounds like fun! I didn't participate as I had too much going on at home the last couple of weeks. I so had fun looking at pics of all of you though! I like this challenge....I have to admit it's stumping me a little though....
