A red bag would go with so many of your outfits and would be a vibrant punch to your generally darker looks I've got mixed feelings on the Kate Spade but mostly because I don't know what your bags are like. Do you like structured or slouchy styles? One the one hand I can see a slouchy bag fitting in with your style nicely, but on the other I could see a structured bag giving you some interesting juxtaposition.

EDIT: This particular bag looks a bit large, so that's another thing to consider.

Um, I'm no help as I'm on a red teas as well. I don't think I can form an honest opinion on the bag without seeing it on... I get the sense that you like strong lines and drama in your outfits, so that's a plus, but the proportions is what makes a bag or breaks it in my book.

I tend to like structured bags because the slouchy is just too disorganized for me. I really like the bowling bag, doctor bag, and satchel look. I actually have a few really nice ones that I just need to start USING! Will post some photos. I have a hard time deciding how a bag fits in with an outfit, since I mostly look at it as utilitarian.

I love Kate Spade handbags. The polka dot lining in this one is great. It does look rather large on the model though.

Oh man i think there was *just* a Kate Spade hangbag sale too! I really love the bag but i admire most things that are Kate Spade. Do i own any? No. But i enjoy looking.

Rae, it sounds like you understand handbag proportion, which I do not. What are the criteria? According to The Lucky Guide to something or other, a petite gal can carry big bag, although a tall gal can't always pull off a tiny bag. Is that what you mean? Or proportion related to the outfit somehow?

My current bag is medium-sized. I don't believe in carrying a giant bag just for the celeb look. But I can't get away with nothing, since I carry a lot of snacks and business cards and other garbage.

I'd love to understand this before I commit to something!

For me, it's usually a more intuitive thing. I'll just try on a bag at a store and say, "Holy cats, the dainty strap on this shoulder bag makes my biceps look like sausages," and that's the end of it. Or maybe I'll dislike how a very structured, square bag looks next to my rounded hips. But then, I will wear a very small-strapped cross body bag that hits on my hips... so I think there is some leeway with the rules.

You said you like structured bags... if this is a similar size and shape to what already works for you, it's probably a good bet.
