I have had a few deliveries following Inge's fab finds following a thread at Christmas.

An Amanda Wakely shirt was gorgeous but too big, even in their smallest size. It was poplin cotton and would be super if I could wear it oversized, but not good for my office wear, so sent back. HEWI is still for me a white shirt!

The MaxMara skirt has arrived and is gorgeous too. But it is outside of my normal things that I buy and I would be really appreciative of your thoughts. May be too tight? May be could crease?

Then a navy jacket from LKBennett. I am comfortable with it, because it is a good placeholder until I can find a v good navy fitted jacket / blazer, which are surprisingly tough to find. Again, what do you think. I am unsure, and I know that the fit is a bit big.

Jane, I wish the skirt was a skosh larger. Is there any chance of getting it one size up? I love it on you and think it’s a great statement item but still it would work well coordinating with things on a daily basis because it is still fairly classic and simple enough.

The blouse looks too big all around.

I like the jacket. I would be tempted to keep it also as long as you have other items to wear it with. It might be a tiny bit large across the shoulders, but I’m not sure what you have layered underneath?

What a pity that white shirt is so big, because the skirt you have on with it is great!

Honestly, I'm not so sure about the other two items either. The skirt is lovely, looks great with the jacket, but in the second picture of it, where there is no jacket, I see lines across the front that must be what you mean when you say it could be too tight. Do you feel like you have to be careful when you take a seat? Obviously, you won't go from standing to sitting in the middle of a meeting, but you don't want to be distracted by it at all. And the jacket, you know this kind of clothing far better than I do, but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with the way the tucks make the bottom part stick out a bit like a peplum. But obviously that's not a clear "out". If you're comfortable with it, I'm sure you could rock the jacket with your sophisticated style.

The shirt is definitely too big. What a shame, because you look lovely in white.

Now what follows is probably a reflection on my current obsession with getting a perfect fit in clothing - so please read my comments with my current bias in mind.

The skirt is WOW! The style and colour are simply amazing on you, I mean that colour with your hair....it is seriously gorgeous on you.

Have you tried it with hose? It looks as though you have bare legs in the photo and if you were to wear the skirt with hosiery that has a control brief, you would get a perfect fit. (My favourite brand that I buy is below. I don't even notice the control top they not uncomfortable at all, but just gives a more smooth effect on the stomach and hip area). Of course, you may want more room than that because you don't want to feel that if you put on a couple of pounds you will be sized out of your beautiful skirt. However, if you are like me and are currently carrying those extra couple of post Christmas pounds now, then it may not be a deal breaker. Buying the next size up and getting the side seams taken in to give you the perfect fit is definitely an option you may consider, because the skirt really is that good on you.

As for the navy jacket, I would not settle without having it altered so that it fits you perfectly. If you don't want to pay to have it altered, then I would wait. It is a nice jacket and I like the peplum effect on you, but to really look sharp, a peplum jacket has to fit perfectly and this one looks a bit large. Angie will know what alteration is required and whether that is likely to be expensive.

New season collections are only a few weeks away and navy jackets are things many women consider to be wardrobe essentials. So whilst you may not see much available right now at the end of winter, more should come available in the next couple of months.

Jane, you have such a lovely shape! Too bad about the blouse - it radiates quality. I like the skirt as well. It is classic with twist, and would work in a conservative work environment. I suggest a size up. The jacket does not look like it fits properly. To many seams (both vertical and horizontal) at tricky spots. Keep looking for 'the one' and do not settle on this one as a place holder.

Sorry for the tough love, but you are too lovely and deserve better.

To me the jacket looks too generous in some areas and too snug in other areas, so I would keep searching. That would be a whole re-building instead of simple tailoring. To be specific, shoulder area looks too generous, peplum area too narrow. I think that particular construction of peplum should be laying down instead of flaring up and out. I don't know if you always wear your jackets buttoned (I am just the opposite) but if you don't then the peplum may lay perfectly when open.

Try a size up in the skirt - LOVELY shade of toffee with your hair. Do the sit down test to check for creasing. Do you have a scarf in the toffee palette?

Can't see the fit of the jacket well enough to assess fit. Might need a button re-positon and you're good. I like what I can see

I am carrying a couple of extra pounds following Christmas but these should go soon enough. I am back on a WW programme, and it is working. So in a week or so, all will be better fitting.

But there aren't any more sizes available than the two I have - the size smaller and this size.

Yes, Bijou, I'm not wearing tights, which do help with keeping everything smooth. Those tights look good, I will take a look at them.

Staysfit, your comments are appreciated, and that you see it as classic and simple, makes me easy about my concerns on the styling.

Fashintern, sitting is okay in the skirt and I hear you on the peplum.

I don't think any of the three are good enough. The shirt is just too big and the shape might be too ambiguous to be flattering to your figure, honestly the vertical fringe on the skirt is odd and the fit is off, and the jacket may have been designed for a flatter bust and behind.

I leave matters of fit to Angie, but I wanted to say the style of the skirt - I just love that for you. The vertical line of fringe does a lot IMO to transform what would otherwise be a little drab.

Angie, there aren't any more skirts left. Sob! I need an 10 minute sit test, I think. I can't wait to find the right white shirt!

Please keep the skirt, it looks fabulous on you, especially with your hair. And it can be additional motivation to loose Christmas pounds.

I agree with Anchie on the skirt, especially because it sounds like you're fairly certain that the extra weight will be gone soon. What's the last date you could return it? You could set that as your target date to lose the pounds.

I think the skirt is stunning. It really shows off your waist. Keep!

The white shirt is unfortunately too big but you know that. Sleeves too long, shoulder seam lower than your shoulders. It's a shame, it look like a lovely shirt.

The jacket isn't quite right. It's hard to say why. It might be a bit too wide across the lower back and making the peplum puff out a bit?

Oh -- I love the skirt, Jane. I wonder if there is any seam allowance to let it out a tiny bit if needed after the post-xmas weight loss? It's perfect -- classic and yet interesting.

I'm unsure about the jacket but will take advisement from others. And onwards to the next white shirt!

The latest I can return the skirt is next Tuesday - so I have enough time. I will check in next week with a retry and see how it is.

So strangely on the jacket, my good friend at work was happy with the jacket, but tellingly, I haven't cut the labels yet.

That's too bad about the shirt being too big. I think I'd try the skirt in the next size up. The jacket looks fine, but it's hard to tell from the photo.
