Tarzy, I wanted to thank you for your suggestion to do the original hem by hand! I wanted to give it a try and practiced on my old pair that was a little bit too long for flats. It worked great and I very happy with the results. I knew my sewing machine wouldn't handle denim and seams in particular and I would have never thought about sewing it by hand. Thank you for this idea!
