Happy New Year!
I posted a few months ago re an upcoming trip to New York and Canada . I just wanted to thank you all for your advice. We had an amazing trip-the buzz of New York leading up to the holiday season and then the White Christmas we dreamed of in beautiful Quebec. Our family was very blessed to spend the time together, with our three adult daughters proving to be seriously good personal travel agents as we two oldies followed behind!
The clothing I took generally worked well. I managed the cold with a Michelin - man approach! Numerous merino under layers- ( ps thank you to the person who mentioned Uniglo baselayers- bought one and it was excellent) fleecy tights under jeans, roll neck jersey, possum socks, snow boots, one warm cashmere jacket, one long puffer coat, one huge scarf, one wooly hat, two sets of gloves and I was good to go! Photos attached for your amusement!
It was a truly magical time for my family, something we will never again experience and I am grateful for the advice this forum gave.
Home now, the mountain of winter laundry is done and packed away, and now we just hoping the somewhat disappointing summer here starts to improve!
