Thanks all, good to know that they are within acceptable length parameters for such things. I'll see how outfit #2 and 3 feel out and about.
Janet - yes, the top is kind of a love it or not so much sort of shape. It's a little awkward to do proportions with because it's wide rather than long. I think I'm going to try shortening the straps a little (they are adjustable) for a slightly higher neckline.
viva, Angie, Colette, jill58, deb, Maneera and lisap -- yeah I was thinking that #2 had both trendy going on (which I like), and boho, (which is more of a departure for me, but I thought everything is worth a try out).
Marilyn and Una, and texstyle -- I like the blazer with jeans too, that's probably the most 'in my comfort zone' of these looks, so I'll wear it out for sure.
Ginger - yes, I remember your recent luck with Asos refined shoes. Hope they are serving you well
Diana - I've enjoyed adding this powdery blue color into my wardrobe which is mostly neutrals and brights. It ends up working with a lot of other colors, but I love columns.
Sveta - good point, I'm planning to wear them pretty much only with flats. I have another pair of dark jeans I'll cut off longer to wear only with boots I think.
shevia - thanks, that's why I was not so sure after cutting, I looked on pinterest and saw a lot of longer cropped flares in street style looks. I might stretch the denim a little when it's wet and I hang these to dry.
Firecracker and rachylou - isn't that weird? I think it's because these were bootcuts and sloped evenly from the knee area down. So even though technically the opening is smaller as I went up, the proportions with regard to the rest of the pant and to my calves didn't look that different. And no matter where you cut, the pant opens up at that point, rather than hanging down as it would with a lower hem. See exhibit A below:
