What do you wear that your friends, family or whomever don't get? Or maybe there is something you like, but don't wear because it makes you vulnerable to criticism?

I'll start: I like sack dresses ('why do you want to hide your figure?'), handkerchief scarves (my friends say I look like a stewardess), loafers and plaid (two things my mother and best friend consider very old-fashioned). Other things too, but these provoque the most criticism, friendly jokes and straight-out disbelief when I wear them. Not that I mind (too much). I just generally shop alone :).

Edit: this post is meant to celebrate the diversity in personal tastes and how they may or may not coincide with those of our surroundings. I'm not suggesting we should all stop caring what anyone else thinks: that's for each person to decide for themselves.
