Hi everyone, I'd love to get your input about scarves for 2019, in general and specifically in terms of casual looks (not cold-weather/outerwear scarves - those are a given!).

What feels fresh? What feels dated? If you're taking a break from scarves, what are you using to add interest instead?

These are such a helpful tool to me, but I'm not sure what's in and what's out - silk scarves are beautiful but perhaps a little fussy for my real life.

From what I can tell:

  • infinity scarves, really skinny scarves and super-huge blanket scarves are feeling a little dated?
  • large silk scarves seem to be more current?
  • in between scarves (lighter weight but a bit more substantial size-wise) are ....??
  • not sure about colors, prints vs. solids, etc.?

Thanks for your insights!

ETA - dug out this silk scarf my Dad bought me maybe 25 years ago in Denmark. It's small square silk (needs an iron). Either of these ways of styling look ok? The standard necktie with ends to the side and back (trying to avoid air stewardess look), and bandana style (I like the front, is the side/back view ok or too old west bandit-ish?) Thx! xx PS - pls forgive bad hair and lack of makeup - deep moisturizing today as it's eczema season
