I've worn them for years, off and on. Different styles. Round toe, chisel toe, with detailing, without...They are great for urban walking and good enough on easy trails (i.e. no steep slippery rocks or loose gravel.) They have decent grip on wet or even snowy pavement but are not great on ice, especially the styles without lug soles. Then again, what *is* good on ice?
My current pair are the more feminine version with the slight heel below, which I got for a trip back east when I could only carry a couple of pairs of shoes and needed an option that would work with pants and a casual dress -- these are awesome. They fit a little narrower than most of the styles (good for me) and support my midfoot extremely well.
Some of the other styles aggravated my plantar fasciitis (too flat for my foot) but these ones feel great for HOURS. And I can be between sizes in some styles as well, so it really does help to try them on in person (or be able to send back easily) if necessary.
I don't use these for hiking trails but use them for all urban/ suburban purposes -- roads, sidewalks, flat paved or chip trails.
