I love teddy bear pile coats - and am sitting on my hands trying not to buy one. They are SO great . I want a big caramel coloured pea-coat style to wear with black or grey jeans and boots. In my fantasy day-time life;) I bought a black shaggy faux fur from Cheap Monday last year, (pic #2) and have worn the heck out of it . I get comments on it every single time I wear it, and can dress it way up, or way down. It's been the perfect coat.

Just bought something similar. It's all teddy bear on the inside, a soft faux suede outside. I don't care if it's just a trend, I'm probably wearing it forever and ever because I run cold.

Teddy coats seem to have suddenly appeared this winter, faux fur has been trending for years. Those whiskey colored teddies REALLY appeal to my eyes, but don't work with my coloring. I found what was described as a teddy coat in a deep wine color, but was more like a shiny boucle looped pile - BIG disapointment!
I think they've been around for a bit but kind of fall in the category of funky classic (at least to me), perhaps because all my stylings are with jeans. I bought this Zara one last winter and it's not exactly a workhorse but it's fun when I want to wear something a little different (I have a lot of coats). I fell in love with the DVF but it was a little pricey for me, and then it sold out.
Teddy coats are a fun spin on faux fur. I am like you, I think they are lovely but did not buy one last winter because I was worried it would be a fleeting trend. I bought a velvet coat instead.
Trending this year for sure. I remember they were also big in the 90s. I do think many of them have closet longevity. The only thing is that they are not suited to rainy climates or to those that are really bitterly cold.
I didn't realize these were being called teddy coats! That's one of the terms for mouton. I have a medium brown shade one, very plush and cozy. Maybe I will pull it out some more.
I love these but worry that I am too long in the tooth for them.l did give into a faux fur leopard print coat this year after years of procrastination so who knows how long I will manage to resist their siren call. They seem to come back into fashion every year at the moment so as Angie says I think that they have become a classic rather than a one season wonder.
I adore teddy coats short and longer ones on younger ladies or just more stylish than me ( and I often overheating ). Here are a couple from Lucky Brand https://www.luckybrand.com/fau.....38;cgid=w-
