Okay, so I just joined Facebook about one week ago. When I set up my page, I had to provide a username and password, and I also received an email from FB with the account confirmation number. For several days, I never logged in or out. I would just type "Facebook.com" in the search bar, and my homepage would show up.

Yesterday morning, for the first time I was asked to enter my username and password, and it took me to a sort of empty shell page of my own. It has my name on the page, and one photo I posted to my Timeline, but my profile pic is missing, as well as everything else I've posted to my Timeline. Also, all my FB Friends are missing. I have no Friends on this page and therefore there's nothing in the newsfeed. The page is suggesting me as a possible Friend, along with several other Friends from my real page.

DH and I have spent several hours trying everything we can think of to access my real FB page, including trying to deactivate the shell account. The problem is that entering my username and password reactivates the shell account.

Other people can get to my real homepage, and I can get to it on other devices--through DH's account, for instance. But of course I can't do anything on my real Homepage when I'm logged in through someone else.

If someone does a FB search for me, both accounts show up--the real one and the shell one. But if I click on the real one, I can't get into it--I have to enter my username and password, and up pops the shell page. We've changed the password; same thing happens.

I wish I could access my real page using the confirmation number FB sent me, but I haven't found anything that asks for it.

We learned that FB doesn't offer tech support by phone; it's all on their website. They offer lots of scenarios, but none of them are exactly this problem.

Has anyone ever had the same situation? If anyone can suggest something, I would really appreciate it!
