I don't think jewelry is mandatory, but I admit a totally accessory-less outfit would leave me cold. Jewelry is just one kind of accessory though. Belts, scarves, hair accessories, shoes, legwear, specs, hats, and even a hair style can instantly enrich a look. Jewelry is easy and familiar which is why I think it makes a popular choice.

Mac, I don't think we have seen any of your outfits but I am left with the impression that you have a quiet, restrained, minimalist style. Is that accurate? I think that is still a worthy statement to make with your appearance.

Bracelets for me. I know what you mean, Maya. I started making my own elastic beaded bracelets years ago because I couldn't find anything to fit my 5 1/2 inch wrist, other than children's jewelry. I've been designing and crafting wire-wrapped bracelets for five years now. It's cool to have original jewelry that you made yourself!

TEAM RINGS!!

I adore cocktail rings (costume - although I'd love to afford some real ones!), and wear one most times I go out.

Bracelets aren't a big part of my wardrobe, but since buying my two watches that have rigid bangle-like bands, they take the place of a bangle/bracelet anyway - but they are watches LOL

Oh and I have miniscule wrists/fingers, and seem to be able to find costume rings to fit easily - we have a store here called Diva, and they sell their costume rings in Sml, Med or Lge, and I wear the smalls - but perhaps that's because a large percentage of their market is teenagers so they do cater for smaller sizes...

I'm team rings but only by default; if you discounted my wedding and engagement rings it would have to be neither. I don't wear rings apart from those, and hardly ever wear bracelets. I guess I've just never got into the way of wearing anything on my hands or wrists apart from a watch.

Interesting -- I currently have no rings and no bracelets.

A while back, I was fixating on bracelets, but I didn't take the plunge on any of them. I just checked on this one, though, and now it's at a "new lower price": http://www.dillards.com/webapp.....R=03184507

Could be time to pick a team!

Angie -- only one bracelet? You did a blog post about a bracelet a while back, and then you got one from Greg on your birthday. Did the blogged-about bracelet disappear (in keeping with "one in, one out") when Greg's came into your life?

I got a bracelet and a ring from MoMA not too long ago. Both were for kids though!

You can't be both, right? I always wear my wedding ring as well as an elephant tail (actual the hair from an elephant's tail) my mother gave me as a teenager. And when I mean always, I mean I never take them off except when my fingers were swollen during the last few weeks of my second pregnancy and I wore them on a chain around my neck.

I used to wear two gold bangles all the time on my right hand (wear my watch on my left) but I did have to remove those before my second son was born and somehow I never got back into the habit of wearing them. But I still love wearing bracelets and now balance them out depending on what other type of jewelry I am wearing.

Long story short, I guess I am team rings.

Team ring, definitely. I wear my wedding ring on my left hand and a green amber ring on my right, every day. I have other costume jewelry but seem to have settled on the amber one. I have a few bracelets and occasionally wear them - the solid ones that flop around drive me nuts; adjustable or elastic ones are less annoying. I do wear a watch most days, though.

Gosh, I guess team bracelet, although I still don't wear them often. I haven't worn my wedding ring since about half-way through my pregnancy with my daughter, so it's been close to three years. I really need to get back to wearing it (provided that it fits now), I mostly just got out of the habit.

Maya - you're sweet (as usual). Yeah, I'm terrible about posting photos here; I love seeing everyone else's snaps but feel both self-conscious and mildly disgusted by pictures of myself.
