I’ll join Team Winging It! I have a large and varied wardrobe and buy things I find that I like. Everything seems to work with other things in my wardrobe, that is, there are no orphans. But it is not planned. Like Angie, I only plan outfits when traveling but again, things will be remixed! I basically go in my closet, my eye is drawn to an item and I put it on, then continue to get dressed. I document my outfits on Stylebook and am surprised by how rarely I wear a previously worn outfit with all the same components.
Thanks for a perfect meal on the bench!

In my dreams I outfit plan but in reality I wing it !

Big picture thinker here — Team Wardrobe Planning all the way. I love not having to think about what to put on on a day-to-day basis, just grab and go. Of course, then I get tripped up figuring out outfits for special occasions and events, so I do have something to learn from the outfit planners…

Team Wing It - but usually when I buy something I know what is in my wardrobe that I will wear with it. I often buy an outfit, so if there is a skirt with matching shirt, I will usually buy both and then wear them together and remixed with other pieces.

I hope this puts me on the bench, the salad and dessert sound delicious!

Wing it is an ever growing team Guess I gotta pick up some more ice cream!

Another member of Team Wing It.

I started capsule wardrobe planning (for work in an office first but later for other functions, too) then get bored of all things matching together (is this possible at all??:-)) so I started outfit planning around more statementy pieces and enjoy my creativity-but I surely wing it on a daily basis now...thus, as Shevia said, in a more informed way!:-)

What a great question, Suntiger! I am a more of an outfit planner than wardrobe planner, although I do some wardrobe planning as well… I enjoy putting together different outfits and I do it often just for myself and “save” the ideas as reference for future use. I don’t plan weekly outfits, for example. As for wardrobe planning - I love having a wide choice of accessories and I plan different complements, usually a scarf and a bag, maybe shoes in a certain color or color combinations, but also sunglasses are a favorite part of my complements, as well as statement necklaces and brooches. I find it easier to dress with ready complements, which I often add to a rather “basic” outfit, such as a column of color or solid top and trousers. So, I am a planner to some extent, but the daily outfits are usually decided the same morning. So, I will probably enjoy the refreshments on the bench?

I’m enjoying being captain of a team

What a great question!

And LisaP, it is fitting, as a wingtip loving woman you are Captain of the Wing It Team. The only question is do you play left or right?

For me, it's wardrobe planning all the way, and spontaneous on the spot outfit creation from those components. Unless I have to dress for a special event (or travel) in which case I plan the outfits quite carefully and usually plan for different weather conditions, just in case.

In the past I was on team outfit planner and had a bloated closet and often had a hard time figuring out what to wear. Then I switched to team wardrobe planner. I learned that my overall wardrobe numbers were lower and I had an easier time creating outfits to wear, but I felt less satisfied with each outfit. I am moving to a combination of the two which is heavier in wardrobe planning but includes outfit planning as well. Is that winging it? (per LisaP). I might call myself a “outfit focused wardrobe planner”. …….

Team Wardrobe Planning. I love the creative process of putting outfits together, and I love organizing my clothes with charts.

Definitely team wardrobe planning, because team outfit planning previously partly led to my over-full wardrobe. One way of creating outfits is by looking at my clothing lists in the morning to see what is less worn, and sometimes a fortuitous fab combination presents itself- like recently my “silver” pants with my slightly metallic Minx boots- both have tiny geometric diamonds on them I realised and the subtle combination pleased me. Don’t think I will ever change back apart from a very very special occasion (like my daughter’s wedding).

I used to be an outfit planner but I've recently switched to team wardrobe planner for everyday and find it so much easier having a selection of items to mix and match with. It also makes it a lot easier for planning around my busy life with outfits for the gym, working in the office/ home and socialising because who has time to put an outfit together in the morning?

Still here and enjoying reading! Hard to respond as I want from my phone. Eventually I'll have to haul out the laptop!

I’m still stuck in the middle. My phone has one saved doc that’s a list of outfits for a certain visit, so that’s team outfits, but there are more that are capsules. I just caught myself daydreaming a capsule for holiday travel at the end of the year. I’m not going to ditch the rest of my wardrobe for any one capsule or style, but it is also extremely rare for me to plan out outfits in detail ahead of time. Day to day, I’m generally grab & go.

I think I posted my first comment in the wrong place. I am an outfit planner and find it relaxing. I look at the weather forecast and usually plan an outfit for the next day. I used to do a week at a time but the weather is too fickle to do that.
Your feast sounds delicious. I’ll take any leftovers.

Planning? What's that? I'm on Team LisaP Wingers!!! I plan outfits for the next few days according to the weather forecast, but as to purchasing? It's too hard for me to find specific items that fit 5' 1" me to shop with a highly defined list. My color palette is fairly limited, and I've learned that the devil is in the details in terms of proportions and what will go with what is more limited than what looks good on paper or on the bed.

I'm ordering a ridiculous amount for NAS. Will any of the colors be *right* and will they fit? The earrings, scarf, and Viking griddle should be okay. But none of the clothing is Petite sized, so it's a crap shoot.
