Carla, that is SO true! Do you do it as much in summer as in winter? Would you consider getting more hats to work with your footwear? A lilac hat would be fun!

@ Suz - absolutely! I’ve been wearing the blue Tilley and blue Uniqlo bag on repeat when out and about (and my beige, ahem! champaign Tilley for gardening). I have plans to wear the cream straw hat with the red leather bag this weekend. The navy hat band has red and white polka dots!

I have been hunting for a pale blue bag to use with my lilac coat. I actually wear the pale blue beret with it, when it’s cooler!

@ Angie - red is ‘signiture’! Can’t get away from it

@ Jaime - I don’t know, and now I have to research it!

Jaime and Carla, one of my style books from the early 1980's says that your hat should match the colour of the fabric you wear below your chin.

My mother always wore hats in the 40's=50"s. I think she matched hats with outfits. I especially remember a black and white hat she wore with a black and white tweed suit. Her hair was black with white, so that may have determined black and white hats. She got a blue hat that at matched the dress she wore to my wedding.

Great collection! I like to match my hats to something, either to gloves or scarves in winter, to bags and shoes in summer, where possible.

My sun hat doesn't perfectly match, but it's pretty close. Ideally I'd have a wicker bag to go exactly with it!

I got a wicker bag on consignment that goes well with my sun hat, but the small bag I got to wear with it broke (does not stay closed), so I am looking for a new one with a crossbody strap.

Love this idea. I wear gloves in winter but have to think about what to match with my pale green hat in summer.

My little matching / coordinating self prefers a hat colour/ fabric or texture to be picked up somewhere else in the outfit …..be it a bag , a shoe or a swimsuit etc. Randomness irritates my eye

I have never thought about how l match my hats to the rest of my outfits,now l will!l mainkywear hats in the summer do they tend to be fabric or straw but l do wear raffia shoes or a bag withthe straw sometimes.l am not sure that this counts .

I smiled when I saw this! When I think of hats I think of you and your outfits, and I love that you have matching complements for your hats! I don’t think I have any matching accessory complements….(Is that statement redundant? Matching and complements! I need my morning tea!). Maybe I should add making accessory complements as a goal for 2024, or maybe I should embrace my mismatched eclectic ways…..the tea is brewing….
