Despite the fact that I have a wealth of jackets, I decided to try this Blank NYC teal hoodie moto. I love the color and vibe — one of my favorite colors to wear.

I threw it on today with the jeans I’m trying on just to get some quick photos. It’s not roomy on me if I zip it up, but this is not the kind of thing I typically wear closed. The next size up is sold out (and the sale is over) anyway.

The other factor is that I already own a Rebecca Minkoff moto from about four years ago in a similar color (pics 3-4), but it’s wool and (to my eye) has a totally different vibe. Honestly, if I added the teal hoodie moto to my closet, I’d probably make room by letting go of some other unworn jacket, because I still like the RM one.

I don’t want to keep anything right now unless it’s really great. I welcome your feedback!

keep both of these and let something else go. although you have so many fab jackets that choosing the one to cull will be a challenge.

I agree they both are different. But you must have some misgivings if you are asking others? You always look so put together.

Id call the new moto an outdoor jacket and the wool indoor-outdoor, so different. That being said, i actually like the shape of the wool one more, at least with the jeans, since the leather is straight across at hem. The leather may look better than the wool w a dress or skirt though...

I also prefer the fit of the wool with jeans compared to the hoodie.
I have different “ eye requirements “ than others, I’ve noticed, though, so there’s that!

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I really like the leather jacket. I’m actually more anxious to wear it — and it suits my current life better — more than the old wool one. The wool moto seems more tailored and polished, which is great for a bit more professional or dressed up outfit, but honestly I’ll get more wear out of the more casual option these days. I just wanted to see if you all found it too redundant since I have one teal moto, and that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I think it’s fair to buy something similar to what you already have if you know you’ll get more use out of it than the former item. It’s like you’re making a little tweak to something you know you’ll like. The small tweak makes the item more useable. It makes sense.

(I think I might need to do something similar with my own moto: it has dark zippers and thin leather, which makes it slightly too dressy. I think I need to get one with silver zippers and thicker leather and see if that reads more casual.)

I’m often the odd man out ....I like the vibe and fit of the RM much better and don’t think it’s too polished or formal with jeans . That jacket works better with the flared jeans - IMHO . Something about the way the hood is sitting on the leather version is bugging me . It’s more of a junior look to me . I think if the hood were thinner or layed flatter id like it better . I do love the colour though . However ....Angie says killer so .... lol

I think that the two jackets have completely different vibes. If you don't think that buying the new one will subtract wears from the old one, then I would keep. It looks great on you.

And I give another thumbs up for those jeans!! They look fabulous.

Teal anything is a plus for me. I love love love that color. These are two very different jackets and support different options in your wardrobe. One more casual, one more formal. With a detachable hood, that's a real plus. Unless I actually "need" a hood on a jacket, I don't like the feel and look of something bunched up on my shoulders or hanging around my neck in the back. The hood does give the jacket that more casual look, however.

in any case, I can see you reaching for the jacket with the hood more often. it's a good price.

I really love the new jacket. That's such a gorgeous color on you that I can understand you considering two jackets in it! I would keep, as they have such different vibes.
