BEST THREAD! Thanks, Adelfa
Tea and cake is very close to my heart. I drink hot tea on a hot day too. I find it refreshing. Greg and I are teapots. I do not drink coffee. But we love iced lemon tea too.
A killer cup of hot tea is my meditation. It calms me down. Allows me to think. Pause. Contemplate. Stay in control. I drink strong Earl Grey with a spot of skimmed milk and sugar. Or English Breakfast and Lady Grey. MUST be served in fine bone china - or a take-out cup. I can't handle drinking tea from a mug with a thick lip. I order hot chocolate if that is the only way the tea is served.
I drink Asian tea black. Jasmine or Green are best. Occasionally a stunning hot sweet Indian Chai.
I'm not all that fond of herbal teas and flavoured teas. I am a purest I guess! And there must be caffeine!
As for cake - where do I start????
- Dense chocolate with cream cheese icing
- South African milk tart
- Dutch Kruid Koek
- Lemon pound cake with cream cheese icing
- Greg's lemon meringue with the best ginger biscuit base
- Greg's Mum's apple cake with ideal milk topping
- Dense vanilla cake with strawberries
- Dutch Gevulde Speculaas
- Pumpkin Loaf
- Italian Polenta Cake
- Carrot cake
- Classic cheese cake - must be baked and no bells and whistles
- Lemon Poppyseed Cake
- Banana Bread
And that's the tip of the ice-berg. I don't fancy pie, and am Cake Girl all the way. But I don't like butter cream frosting.
