Taylor: how do you move buttons on a jacket?

Taylor, I saw that you, "move virtually all front buttons on about every jacket I own" in the MK top 10 thread. Can you explain more? Wouldn't that necessitate moving the button holes too? How does it work? I'm super curious!

Don't you just cut off the buttons and move them to the left or right (tighter or loser). Button holes stay in the same place.

I remove the buttons. Put the jacket back on. re-align the jacket into the new position, usually over about a half inch or inch for me on jackets that ~fit~ everywhere else . Mark the new position and reattach the button. This brings in the waist area on me and gives the back a more fitted look as well without changing the design of the jacket. It doesn't work so well if the jacket is too big to begin with.

If anyone knows an easier way I am all ears!!!
