Many thanks to Tanya for finding me a potentially great pair of pants! In my closet love post she linked several pairs from The Limited, remembering my search for comfy boot cuts. I ordered two pairs and this is the winner:

They are ponte knit, yay! Super soft, perfect thickness but not too heavy, stretchy, and with my favorite leg style...fitted to the knee and then flaring. Tags aren't off yet because to be sure, I have just ordered them Long to compare. I'm not tall (5' 5") but I have a long torso and I have learned that sometimes the Tall option on pants gives me the perfect rise. Either way I will have to hem, so rise is more important than leg length. Being PPP I wanted to make this comparison.

The ones I don't plan to keep were called bootcut but they were more straight than bootcut...mini boot at the most. But good looking ponte flares...I'm thrilled. Others I found were really more wide leg than the fitted/flare I like best.
