Tall to me about Eileen Fisher

I know a few of you have the Eileen Fisher harem pants and others have purchased other pieces from the brand.

I have been looking for what I call a pair of harem leggings (relaxed fit tho) and I think these might be "the ones" http://www.eileenfisher.com/Ei.....cale=en_US

I don't "need" them right away and will have to save for them. Total cost including shipping will be approx $255.00.

I don't mind spending the money, and it would be the most have I spent on a piece of clothing for a long time, but I think these would have a (very) long term place in my wardrobe.

Also, does this brand ever go on sale?

My question relates to fit, sizing and quality. Any info you can share with me would be much appreciated.

Thanks Penny:). I would really like the Rick Owens harem leggings but I am not sure they are available any longer. But these are the closest I have found to them:)

Deborah - I have a number of EF pieces but not her pants. They do go on sale and if you sign up on her website you will get coupons periodically - I've gotten up to 25% off but her website does hot have a huge inventory and often the sizes are limited if the piece is high interest. Also her stuff sales at all the major stores. You can check out shopstyle and keep checking back to see who has it for less. I do always size down in her clothing. I am usually a size 4 and take a regular xs. I'm 5'3" and although I almost never buy petite because my legs are long the one time I tried her pants I would have needed it. Lots of review at nordies and her website and I would definitely see what they say about sizing. Otherwise I've had good luck quality wise with her brand and I do think they are awesome. Deborah, the only thing I would ask, if you anticipate these having a very long term place in your wardrobe, is whether it would bother you if the harem look doesn't stick around?

My personal rule is that when things are expensive-for-me, they need a long shelf life. That can either be because they're on the classic side, or because I love them so much I would wear them even when they went out of style.

What's your feeling on that issue?

Yes, they go on sale. EF is carried by a number of major retailers so it is worth shopping around. Her sizing is quite generous. I find I can only wear a XS or PS, 0, or 2. My more bounteous friends swear by her for comfortable, easy fits. Her pieces wash well, travel well, and are soft and well made. I'm a fan - although, like all brands, not every piece is always my cuppa.

Really nice quality on most of her stuff, Debs. Like IK, I'm sized out of much of it and in my case, most of the tops don't give me enough structure and too much drape for my frame. Sizing is very generous. But I always check it out.

You can get her stuff on ebay, too. So worth looking. It definitely goes on sale at Nordies but you might not get the size or item you want.

I don't own any Eileen Fisher pieces but have been trying some on recently. My impression is the clothes are quite well made and are usually washable. They definitely run large.

From what I know of your style, these harem pants would look terrific on you!

So funny you should ask about this today. Yesterday I was in Nordstrom's Rack and I tried on this amazing asymmetrical black jacket by Eileen Fisher and I thought, "holy cow, this would look awesome on Deborah!"

I have a silk EF tee that I got at the consignment store that is wearing like iron. My imnpression of the quality is that it is very high.

Right now I only own some of her boots, and I've not tried on any of the bottoms. But the tops and dresses I've tried seem very high quality and well-made. I don't have any because they run not only large but also TALL. I almost always need a petite in EF styles because they are so darned long they swallow me up, and it seems like the styles I like never come in petite.

I forget how tall you are though... I am just under 5'4" and short waisted.

Some of my most frequently worn pieces are from EF. Her aesthetic of drapey or boxy fit, primarily in solid colors, in high quality fabrics, appeals to me. As others said, sizing is generous in most styles.

I occasionally find things on sale but generally at the end of the season. I've never ordered from her website but I've ordered from Nordstrom and get things at my local dept store.

Yeah...what Diana says about height -- that is part of why I'm mostly sized out. It's a scale issue altogether. Alas!! But petites can work.

EF runs a bit big for me. I am generally a PXS or PS. Her tops don't fit me well but I do find the occasional piece that I love.

I agree that EF runs a bit large, and tends to be long (usually works on me at 5'9"). And it's definitely an aesthetic that I can see working for you, Deborah.

Just to muddy the waters further, there are also Eileen Fisher outlet stores - I've got one near me, and although I don't stop in often it seems to focus on the basics for the most part. Not sure if they would carry something like those harem pants, or whether that would be something you'd have to get at full price. (I'll certainly look the next time I have the opportunity, if you want.) Several department stores, like Macy's and Nordstrom, carry EF so that might be the best possibility to get something at a discount. Not sure how all that would work out with international shipping, etc.
