just saw this...i've done 3 Road Scholars, 1 was a mid winter get away to Spain in fact, 1 was 2 weeks in Italy and and the last was a week in Greece. i love to travel, but am a poor traveler...as i've gotten older, i really dislike the stress of having to negotiation my way around a foreign city, both literally and figuratively. what i like the most about Road Scholar is that most of the "work" is done for you. Want to see Michelangelo's David? they make the reservation and arrange the tickets and provide an expert, they provide tips and tricks to getting around the crowds etc. All of the stressful stuff is taken care of, and there is someone to fall back on who not only speaks the local language, but also knows the locale as well. for example when we were in Venice there was some sort of strike looming and they were able to rearrange what we were doing and when to minimize the impact on our travel
all of the trips that i've been on have been small groups (20-25 people), and for the most part the groups have gotten on well. all 3 of the trips I've been on have included 85%-90% of the meals. most of the food has been good, some of it extraordinary (best meal of my life was at a small winery in Andalusia), and some just ok. same with the hotels.
