Angie’s shoe colour post is timely! I’m kind of obsessed with these, but on the fence about actually ordering these shoes. I’ve never owned (or even tried on) this brand. I know a while back Fluevogs were a ‘thing’ but most folks have passed onto other styles. I have fussy feet - low volume, need arch support and cushioning with width at forefoot but narrow heel. I’m worried about that first band that would cross the widest part of my forefoot (and bunion).

What is your experience with fit and feel of Fluevogs?

Those are cute!

My experience has been that Fluevogs vary widely in fit from one style to another. I’ve worn them in sizes ranging from 7.5 to 8.5. Some are a bit narrow, which works for me. Their customer service is quite good — I think you can easily contact them about any style and get specific advice about fit and support. I’ve had very friendly interactions with them in the past, but it’s been a number of years. Hopefully they are still that responsive.

I still have two pairs from many years ago — Curvy heeled black booties that fit closely around the ankle, which work great with dresses and skirts should I need that (they are rarely worn but I keep them just in case), and flat pointy-toed black boots that work with bootcut jeans — those are a little beat up but work well for times when I am going to a rock show or something and don’t want to worry about scuffing or messing up my shoes. They are well-made and last!

Those are really great, Carla! A little blingy though for you, no ? Anyways, I have only had 2 pair of Fluevogs, and while they were probably the *coolest* shoes I owned, they were not exactly comfort shoes. Narrow, a stiffer last and sole than many, and I was so petrified of scuffing or scratching them that I kept them *for good*, which of course meant I hardly wore them and eventually passed them on . I bought them locally though, so wasn't worried about customer service/trying on etc.

When I was in Seattle last August, I went to the Fluevog store and had a lovely time. The SA was so charming, he told me the history of the company, showed me his favorites, and of course brought me shoes to try. They have many different styles and it was hard to choose one but I decided on the original bootie in burgundy. My size was out of stock in the store and I would have to order it online. When I got home it was finally summer so I waited. Well, winter has finally started and I'm thinking about those booties again.

I have always enjoyed looking at Fluevogs but I've never owned a pair. Some day I'll go to the Seattle store and try some on. I think you should try those and then report back.

Looks amazing - post pics if you'll go with a purchase. Style and color-wise looks a perfect/fun shoe for you ( I think you can handle bling in the shoes - adds something unexpected to your classic pieces ).

I think you mentioned recently that you went to Yorkdale Mall which makes me think you live in the Toronto area. Did you know that there are 2 Fluevog stores in Toronto? One on Queen Street and one in the Distillery District. May be you can try them in person?

love those...and i'm interested in this brand, was in New Orleans a couple of years ago and got to see, and try some on, and found, as Janet mentioned wide variation in fit. given that, i've been reluctant to buy on line.

The store in the Distillery district is fabulous -- you should go try some on. I love the ones you've posted!

Fluevogs come in different lasts. They group them by "family." You'll have to test them out to see if any work for your foot. I had a pair I really liked but I simply wasn't wearing enough, so I passed them along to Transcona Shannon, who had more need for a dressy shoe than I did at the time.

I found the comfort was good for a heel in the pair I had, but other Fluevog lasts would not have worked at all.

I have no experience with Fleuvogs but those are amazing. Send them to me if you don’t want them! That said, I’d need them to be comfortable so hope they are.

I used to have a couple of pairs (and still have one pair of boots but I don't wear them very often). I agree with Janet that they vary wildly in sizing and comfort, so it's best to go try them on in person if you can. I did not find any of the pairs I had to be super comfortable, even though I knew a lot of people who thought they were the most comfortable thing ever, but I do have odd, fussy feet so it may not be an issue for you.

I had a pair of Fleuvog heels that I loved but ultimately had to give away because they simply weren't comfortable on my fussy feet. As mentioned previously, comfort with Fleuvogs can vary widely depending upon the style. On the plus side, they're extremely well made with high quality leather and will last a long time. BTW, those are some amazing red shoes, Runcarla!

Fluevog fan here—and have been for decades.

I’ll second what Suz and Dagmar said about the need to try on a Fluevog. If that particular style’s fit is right for your foot, you’ll be in shoe heaven and will be able to wear your shoes for hours on end—and for years. If the fit is off, though, you’ll be in “shoe art” land.

I’ve bought Fluevogs online but only when I’ve a general idea of the shoe family’s fit so I have some clue as to what size to order for that style. The good news is that Fluevog does refunds but ONLY if you pay to ship the shoes back to the originating store (there is no “online warehouse”) AND if the shoe is not on sale. Sale items are not refundable but you will get a store credit. If this is your first Fluevog, you really are better off going into a Fluevog shop.

As for the “bling” factor, there is no getting around the fact that Fluevogs are almost always statement shoes. Thinking back, I’m more than a little amused by the realization that, every time I buy a pair of Fluevogs, I inevitably walk out of the shop with a style and color combination that I wouldn’t originally have thought was for me. The Fluevog “magic” happens when I see the shoe on my size 10 foot, break into a smile, and say “oh, I’m not sure I ought to...”. But, if you buy a Fluevog that thrills you and fits your foot, you’ll happily wear it for years despite what is happening in the “normal” shoe world. Like Janet, I have Fluevog boots I’ve loved for years and still happily pull out of the closet to finish off an outfit.

Thank you! If there is anything I’ve learned from participating in YLF and this forum, it is how important footwear can be. I do not want to own ‘ordinary’ footwear any longer. These look right up my alley - and where I want to go stylistically.

Since the shoes are on sale, they can not be returned for refund. These are the first pair of Fluevogs I’m contemplating so I am taking the advice that I better try them on in person.

I live 100km east of Toronto, and have a trip in to the Big City in 3 weeks, so will be able to check both Fluevog stores in person. My size (9.5) and the style is listed as being available at both. Fingers crossed that they will be there for me to try on in 3 weeks! I think I may reach out to customer service.

Fluevogs do vary widely in fit. It's worth trying them on in person if you can, but if not, their online sales reps are really helpful. My normal size is 10N and I've owned their shoes in sizes ranging from 9.5 to 11! I've had many Fluevogs over the years, but have sold all but two pairs, which I've hung onto. I don't wear them often, but when I do I really enjoy them for their great looks and comfort. Sometimes only a Fluevog will do!

I have tried a few pair over the years (and perhaps have a few vintage pairs in my to be sold archives). One pair I wore to the ground for sure. So what Gaylene and others said. Good luck!

Those look like soooo much fun, Carla! I haven't owned a pair of Fluevogs, but I really enjoy looking at them at the Distillery District store just for the fun of it. They're wearable art!

I tried some on when I was in Seattle a few years ago. I couldn’t get any to fit. I love their off the wall style, though.

I have owned three pairs but eventually passed them all along. They were very, very cool and well made, but like Lisa P says, not a truly comfortable shoe. Not ouchy, but perhaps a little narrow and a little hard soled (I never owned the bouncy rubber-soled styles). There is a store in Chicago and I shopped in the Montreal store when on vacation there.

That said, the pair pictured is TO DIE FOR. I hope they work out for you.

I .ime the look of these shoes for you. I like the slightly quirky vibe that can be casual or dressy and have always intended to get a pair. A good smart casual choice for retirement if they are comfortable.

My cousin only wears Fluevogs and swears by them. She says they are very comfortable. There are stores in Toronto that sell them if you can get there to try some on. I think my cousin always looks stylish and fabulous and the shoes certainly help the look.
