Talk me in or out of this ebay auction...

In an attempt to add more "basics that are not basic" to my wardrobe i've been considering a velvet blazer. I have a regular black blazer in my closet already, but i enjoy velvet and thought it would be nice to have a staple and add texture in one shot.

So far i've liked this one the best:

I haven't taken the plunge yet because....
1. it's hard for me to buy blazers/jackets online without trying them on. But i did compare measurements on the blazer i already own and they seem to match up.
2. i was trying to take a break from shopping
3. even though i like this blazer, if i'm going to spend the money it's hard for me to buy this rather then something crazy fun.

What do you guys think? Buy or do you think i can find something in this price point in stores?

I don't think this particular jacket is suitable for you. It's very early in the season. Velvet normally comes out heavily closer to the holidays.

I'd be careful about buying a blazer on Ebay since fit can be so tricky and the return process can be difficult. I think if you hold out you'll be able to find something later at a similar price point.

Save your money for some crazy fun now....the perfect blazer is out there still.

You are totally right Annagybe. Velvet is all over the place in winter, apparently i had forgotten. >.> I'm going to wait then until i can try on and see more options.

I like this! First, it matches measurements of one you have that fits, second they take returns. On the other hand, $50 is a little high but it is a brand item . . . hmmm. No telling if a pre-worn item has bare patches on elbows, etc. If you have lots of brick and mortar shopping available, I would look in-store first.

Rae - i'm going shopping this Saturday with my future sister in law and mother in law to help them look for wedding stuff so hopefully i will be able to find the perfect cropped....whatever! Tuxedo-blazer-jacket perfection. I"m going to try and remember to bring the dress along too.

I am here! That top is great. I would NEVER undercut someone else's prey they are stalking! But there are a lot of lurkers - 150,000 different people sign on a month, according to the Seattle Times article this last Sunday. So I would protect your interests in future posts. Just to be safe.
