Check out this new Born oxford, which looks surprisingly similar to the Jeffrey Campbell oxford I bought last year. Do shoes ever worry about "copyright infringement"???

They do look similar! I don't think it is easy to copyright shoes or design though - even red soles can't be patented

I know! I was looking at those the other day. I wondered if they would be more comfy than the Jeffrey Campbells.

Oxfords are classic and have been around for decades. Neither of these brands originated the style......so I can't imagine a copywrite issue with these particular labels.

Born is fantastic BTW and my go to brand....very comfortable and classic and very well made in design. Real leather etc.

I just got these.... they are called Sia's .....I love the asymmetry Oxford/ shootie look.

The Borns have a lower heel... TOTALLY different.

I'm sure JC got the idea from somewhere else, too, though. And I bet the Borns are super comfy - I'm glad they're adding some interesting design elements like that.

I was listening/reading to something about copyright in various industries a few months ago. The answer is no: the fashion industry does not pursue copyright infringement, because trends drive sales to such a great extent... and designers play off each other, get inspired by each other.

There are those who would argue hi-tech should take a clue.

Both are cute! I have to admit, I am befuddled by the ideas of infringing when it comes to similarity between clothing designers. I mean, take men's ties, how different can one brand really be from another?? Or button down shirts, or pencil skirts, or . . . .

I don't think any shoe ideas are really that original, really.

I thought Louboutin was able to patent his red soles.
