Oslo- skin tight jeans with blousy tops, denim shirt dresses, floppy semi wide leg pants, preppy Martha's Vineyard goes to aspen vibe

Svalbard- brynje fleece, rab puffers, arctic fox bobble hats, seaworthy insulated Union suits and a ruger, because polar bears.

Stavanger- mandatory tats on anyone male under 30 especially in food service, well coiffed hair --shorn on the bottom, sculpted on top with topiarized side burns, short sleeves plaid shirts. Haven't really noticed the women...

I'm wearing jeans, a sweatshirt and horse choker jewelry to eat at re naa.

Off topic--Pork fat and crackling smeared on whole grain bread. Healthy because whole grain, right?

Preikestolen tomorrow. Send help if I don't check in.

Elle --there are some manbuns tho not as mainstream as in the states where a friend's 10 year old has a manbun.

The bun was most frequently seen with a manbeard in the hipster parts of Oslo and among hipster-ish folks elsewhere. Man beards also seen on manly men up north above the Arctic circle where flannel is not ironic.

Awesome! I'm so glad you're getting to visit Norway. I saw a little of everything last summer in Oslo. And yes, you have Svalbard nailed, hehe. Isn't it gorgeous though? Did you get to go check out any of the glaciers?

Janet--Svalbard was amazing. Stayed at isfjord radio, an old radio station. I did to a brief glacier walk. Never been as cold s riding those polarcirkel boats from fjord to fjord. Want to go back in the dark time.

Sharan--tried to meet up with Ingunn, but schedules didn't mesh.

Excellent report. Not for the squeamishly, but I want to know how easy it is to get pig's blood and spruce tips that's in all the cookbooks... Lol.

Pigs blood is in the supermarket in the freezer section, at least the larger ica ones. Also, Oslo has mathallen with obscure meat parts along with a we-are-the-world selection of cooked foods.

Spruce tips may need more specific sourcing. I had the best pine granita.
