I used to shop Talbots a lot but stopped doing so a few years ago because of the lack of edge in their design. However, it seems that they have revived the classic style and get a lot of beautiful pieces now.

Wow Julia...I'm surprised. I loved the belt, the tote/purse and the wellies.

I never ever even looked or considered Talbots...I thought it was an "old lady" store.

LOL Nicole. It did feel like an "old lady" store before this season when it's supposed to be classic. They had a new CEO earlier this year or late last year and decided to rebuild their image, I guess this is the result.

The wellies look just like the Hunters Angie mentioned before.

I have been looking for something that would work like a denim jacket, but not necessarily denim.

What a coincidence! I was in Talbots with my client today and we thought the very same thing. It's pays to never leave a retail stone unturned. Superb quality!

More often than not, it’s HOW you piece items together that make for an edge. It’s not always the pieces themselves.

I wonder if the black one would be the "soft" leather jacket for Ana?? It definitely is a statement piece. I have too many other wants to drop 3 bills on a leather jacket--besides, i don't find leather jackets very comfortable. But it is a beautiful jacket.

haha when I first saw the title of this thread I thought "oh dear, who is shopping THERE?" I used to think of Talbot's as the store where the Golden Girls would shop. Guess they decided to change their image.

Thanks for finding that skirt! The pattern is very geometric and interesting. I'm not sure I could pull off a silk skirt though (I'm pretty hard on my clothes).

They have literally changed their entire website in the last few weeks. I like what I'm seeing.

Ana, when Angie said a "softer" black moto jacket--I took it to mean a jacket with more femininity. You asked about ruffles..and I think that could be an element that makes it feminine. Or crackled patent. Or a belt, or peplum, or puff sleeve...or just something that makes it a female version of a masculine concept.

I'm so happy you got a red tote Angie! I wish Club Monaco sold online. They have a nice black and white printed cashmere scarf on their site that I wouldn't mind snagging at some point. Oh well.

Julia, the actual red tote that I purchased is not on their site, BUT, if you go to their “lookbook”, you’ll see a black zipped tote accompanying a skirt outfit. Mine is just like that in bright, cracked red patent (not croc). I am thrilled!

I adore Club Monaco. They are one of my favourite places to shop in America. A fab Canadian company!

So I'm a little late on this thread, but I was just thinking about writing a post on Talbots because I just go their catalog yesterday. I loved some of their stuff. I too haven't been excited about their catalog in ages. I just bought a denim skirt there that I really like and they have a bunch of other things on my wish list.

Thank you Angie for the comment about how it is often how you put the pieces together that make the difference. I was looking at some of their skirts and dresses that are similar to JCrew's, but I know would fit me much better. Now if I could just find a babysitter!!:)
