Taking the Ted Baker dress to work: shoes?!

I am totally shoe-impaired! I know this dress deserves better than a blah cardi, but I want to get some use out of it for work. Is this okay, and what about shoes? Or should I just go with black/grey/cognac boots? Or change into a different outfit altogether?

I vote for lower vamp pumps or tall black boots. I don't think the cardigan is blah, in fact I don't think it's possible for this color to be blah. The dress is a huge statement, it would be my inclination to let it stand on it's own and not have it compete with other statement pieces in the same outfit.

I don't know where you work so I can't speak to if it works with your dress code.
I think it looks fine. If this is the first time you are wearing the dress to work, I'd tone it down a bit -- with black or grey topper (to put the "feelers" out). Shoes are good, black or grey boots would be better.

Rosee, I have my own office - it's a law practice and I can pretty much wear what I like within reason considering clients and court.

I wouldn't mind black shoes if the vamp were lower than the current one's. Out of these choices I vote boots.

I think the gray is adding one too many elements to an already busy print and colorful topper. Modgrl's suggestions sound good to me!

Thanks all! I agree on some lower vamp shoes, but I ended up wearing the boots (because it's rainy and 48 degrees!) AND changing out the cardi for a black jacket. It really tones down the dress, but that's okay.

It's funny, as I tried and discarded several options I realized that although this dress is definitely a STATEMENT!!, it actually goes with a huge number of other items because of the shift style and all the colors it contains. I can see myself using this dress as a wardrobe staple now, which seems odd considering how crazy it is. As Heather said, endless possibilities!

In other words, this was a good exercise - if only I'd done it before I had to rush out the door.

Love it with the boots, but swap out the cardi for a jacket. Not that the cardi looks bad - just that a jacket will look better

That's what I did, Angie! Swapped for a little black jacket and wore the boots. Obviously I need a pair of pumps, from all the times they've been suggested!

I see you ended up making the perfect Angie-endorsed call, Una! Awesome! The black jacket sounds perfect, letting the boots shine instead of competing w/them like the cardi was.
