Tahari Moto & Kenneth Cole Coat

1-4 Tahari Moto - S - This is too tight through the upper arm, and probably elsewhere, too.
5-8 Tahari Moto - M - This feels wonderful and I think I love it. Sorry for the blurry photo.
9-13 Kenneth Cole Double Face Coat - M - The fabric feels so soft. I think this is the right size, and I love the color. It goes well with my hair. Like others, the fasteners are problematic. I don't think I'll keep it.

If you remember, I had several blue leather jackets, and decided on the traditional, conservative Cole Haan. Well, I'm thinking of keeping both the Tahari and the Cole Haan.

Do you think I'm making the right decision?

I love the Tahari Moto on you. In the larger size. Is this the one momo got? It's very special. Works well with your grey top. You should keep it.

Brooklyn, thanks for your opinion. Yes, it's the one Momo bought. My husband didn't like it at first because he thought it was brown and wouldn't go with all my grey things. We looked at it outside, and he agreed that it wasn't brown but a sort of dark burgundy, instead. I like it with grey.

The moto is super wonderful. The larger size is much better. I see the smaller size pulling across your scapula. It's an absolute keeper. I kind of like the Kenneth Cole also. Can the fasteners be changed? It looks like they are snaps used in knits which are fairly common, and tend to hold well. If you think the quality is subpar, you can look online or in a knitting store for a good quality snap. It looks like a large one. I can't see if there is a secondary fastener or more than one snap used?

I went back and looked at the Cole Hahn jacket for comparison. It's so different from the Tahari style wise. If you want two leather jackets, then I would definitely get both.

Staysfit the Kenneth cole coat has two large snaps, that are both at the waistline a few inches apart , designed to be invisible from the outside when the coat is closed. ( I know because I got it in the nutmeg color) the snaps seem good quality to me but if they don't line up exactly with your waistline at just the right width they pull a little creating a slightly awkward look. There was a whole lot of discussion about this some other postings on this coat by me and by others. I should let jaileen speak for herself but I'm guessing this is the issue she is seeing. Also the body of the coat is woven, not knit so the placement has to be just right. I'm thinking about moving the snaps on mine.

Jaileen I agree with your choices, that burgundy jacket is really nice and you are wise to be picky about fit for a leather jacket

Love the moto on you. I can't comment on fit since I chose to size down because I wouldn't wear bulky layers under mine. I see no problem with keeping both leather jackets since they are so different.

I'm less in love with the sweater coat. It looks like a bit too much fabric through the body, although the shoulders fit you well. Maybe I just don't like this style of jacket.

Chris, I guess the snaps are in the wrong place. They also clink if they're not snapped. I'm not sure I'm up to moving them. If it still looks bad, then I can't return it. The fabric is absolutely lovely, though. I'm glad it worked for you.

Aquamarine, thank you! The arm opening of the smaller jacket is too small and cuts into my arm pit.

Jaileen - the Tahari Moto in the medium led oks fantastic. Such an unusual and luxe color, it's very special. A real signature piece. Love the concept of the CH. it looks really good on you but see what you mean about the snaps. Do you love it? Will that bother you? EF and Vince have made similiar pieces, I'm sure a lot more spendy, but I have a sugar eye for soft elegant sweater coats because they are so versatile and comfortable. If it this one, you NEED, something similar. Hopefully Angie will weigh in with her thoughts

Gryffin, Suz, thank you. Yes, I'm going to keep the larger size jacket. I'm not going to keep the sweater coat. I think if it were single breasted, with a different fastener, maybe a slightly smaller snap, I'd keep it.

Love the moto! The medium look great, and if it feels that way - keeper! Love the color and it will go so well with all you gray and navy. Too bad about the closures on the Kenneth Cole, because it is a great looking coat, but they show through even when open.

The moto is beautful. The burgundy color will look awesome with all of your grey! I agree it is very different from the navy you got earlier.
Less love for the sweater coat - the sleeves are too long and I doubt there is an easy way to remedy that since it is knitted material.

Love love love the moto in the larger size. I really like the pale grey Kenneth Cole sweater coat but it sounds like it should go back having some significant problems. Maybe there will be a beautiful soft leather coat in that dove grey color next year. I would buy it too.

Do you have a find for the moto jacket? It sounds like the burgundy/brown color is the same as a leather skirt I bought last year. A leather suit! The thought makes my heart race.

I would pick 1 leather jacket for this year. This is so that you're not overbought.

I like both the tahari and the Cole haan and would pick the Cole Haan, just because of the more lady-like vibe, which is a bit different from your silver one.

Angie, thanks for lending your opinion. I love the Tahari moto. Do you thibk getting two leather jackets at once is excessive, as Smittie suggested. I'm not sure, now.

Jaileen - not Angie but if you've been blessed to find two leather jackets you really love, in the right colors, that fill different niches, I would get both, if it's within budget. I find it's not an easy task to find exactly what you want when you need it. But when I get lucky I run with it, but only if I really love and can afford the pieces.

Smittie, makes a good point. One leather jacket addition at a time is a better idea. FWIW, I vote the Tahari. I found the Cole Haan a bit conservative and too much like the jacket you already have.

Angie, I hung onto the Cole Haan, and sent the rest back. Now I have two good choices, but don't want to buy too much. I'm sure I'm guilty of that. My overflowing closet is proof!

Side by side comparison time -which one makes you feel most fab! Both look great on you. I lean towards the Tahari- the color is so unique and the cut is classic but also current. The navy one is also classic, but less modern. It is dressier to my eye. And remember to save space in your closet for Sgt Pepper, which is also navy.

Karen, you're right. I'll do that this afternoon. I'm inclined to keep the Tahari. I love it! I really like the Cole Haan, though. Hmmm. Sgt Pepper won't be an everyday kind of jacket, I don't think.
