syc...talk me out of these leather shorts

If you must violate your SYC, how about a leather skirt instead? Seems like that would get worn more times before cleaning than shorts, which -- how can I put this delicately -- have more intimate contact with the body.

How about: they have a very short inseam, almost hot pant length, so you'd always have to wear opaque tights, making them less versatile. Leather shorts will also date faster than other leather items, as will the cut of these particular shorts. Cleaning costs are also a good point.

How about, they would have to be very occasion specific, and therefore not very good Cost Per Wear compared to a leather skirt. And the hot pants effect is not to be ignored, as well

How about because they look like something that could have been on the cover of Lou Reed's "Transformer"? Or perhaps by Ru-Paul?

That brand is pretty nice, though. They had this long-line biker style jacket last year that I loved (and they even made it in my size!), but sadly I ran across it after they were all out of stock.
