SYC - I cracked. :(

ARRRGH!

I had lunch at Nordstrom with a friend today. Right: big mistake. Not my idea but she wanted to meet there as she needed to pick up some cosmetics. Of course we had to walk through the petite section on the way to the cafe, and she asked if I would try on a couple of coats that she wanted to buy for her sister-in-law. Then of course, we were browsing the sale racks, and I ended up finding a navy Anne Klein silk tank that is perfect for all my orphaned skirts, and this cropped sweater, but in a purple-blue, both on clearance prices:

The tank fulfills a serious wardrobe hole, but the sweater was pure cave-in on my part...

Get out the wet noodle and start the lashing.

If you feel guilty about the sweater, return it- otherwise enjoy it and get right back to SYC-ing!

What is this Nordstrum (Nordies?) you all speak of?? It's a catalog store, it's a cosmetic store, it's a loft, it's a cafe--does it slice and dice??? I'm guessing it's a big magical department store found all over the States from the sounds of it---yeah?? Or mostly clothes and accessories a la Winners? It sure seems like a dangerous place to walk =+)

What a slippery slope! Nordstrom for lunch, then forced coat-trying-on...it's an irresistible combination :). Filling that navy top gap is a good thing to do, and the sweater looks cute. I say everything in moderation, including shopping and shopping bans.

If you loved it in-store and love it still -- and can't even manage to work up some guilt -- then I think it's a keeper. In my mind, SYC isn't about depriving yourself, but about getting to know your wardrobe (and its holes) while saving some money. You found a hole, and you filled it. Successful SYC to me.

Patty, Nordstrom (aka Nordies) is a US department store that has clothing for men, women, juniors, and children, as well as accessories. Many Nordstrom stores also have cafes and some even have spas. They also have an online option, and a discount/outlet store called Nordstrom Rack.

Ban the shopping ban!!

I fell off the other SYC after 3 weeks...no one was bitter about it..we can only stand so much not shopping. It's just not worth being unhappy and going without!

I'm with grewitch. It's not as if you ran through Nordstrom waving your credit card and buying things with abandon. It wasn't a spree, it was filling the holes in your wardrobe.

I think it's because I know if you're willing to break SYC you've thought about what your holes are and you know what will fit in nicely with what you already have.
I guess I'm SYC-ish over here. I'm wearing everything but if there's a hole, I'm going to fill it.
Or if there's a pretty thing I just need-ish. O:)
