Confession time: I’ve always had a problem with “shop my closet”. So I set up this January challenge with self imposed rule of not repeating an outfit. And with the promise to post all the outfits. And because of my rules, I realized SYC really means STYLE your closet
One thing I learned, posting outfit pics everyday was more work than I had thought. I was also reminded how supportive this community is. I want to thank each and everyone who took the time to comment on my posts. And to tell you how much they meant to me.
As I worked thru the month, I realized just how plug and play my closet was! There was only one outfit I wore all month were I couldn’t imagine the sweater worn with different pieces. There was only 2 days that I got dressed and then changed.
I wore 16 different pairs of jeans. I have 3 pairs and a denim boiler suit that I didn’t wear. 1 pair that I didn’t wear is a lower rise & and 1 is a super skinny. Im going to let the super skinny go, If I don’t wear the others next month I’ll let them go.
I wore all but 6 of my winter sweaters. I need to evaluate this and decide if it’s time to let them go. Only 2 of these sweaters are less than years old, so they’ve served me well. 1 sweater should have been returned but I missed the mail back date. No more on line shopping if I can’t return in person or with less than a 90 day return period
I only wore 3 of my blazers. I’m not ready to let most of them go, but I do need to make sure I’m not adding more. Also needed to make sure I wear my leather jacket, I can’t save it or worry about what people may be thinking when I wear it.
It’s been a cold, rainy January so on the footwear front, it was basically boots boots boots. And I once again it reinforced I love refined more “lady like” styles. And patent leather and pointy toes are my sweet spot. I need to step away from shoes that aren’t 10s, if I don’t love it, I don’t need it. I have 1 pair of boots that I will definitely donate at the end of this season and 1 that’s probably on the way out depending on how much I wear them next month.
What’s next? I’m not a shopping fast, but I’m looking to shop slower. If I buy it, it must be at least a 9 and it must work with what I already own, no one offs or it needs X. No buying because it’s a great price. No buying because I’m bored. And no buying because someone else thinks it’s great
Overall, this was a helpful challenge. And one I’m hoping to repeat in July.
If your still with me, thanks for reading and for all your support this month.
