SYC- Doesn't Count for Another Person, Right?

I ran to Target this morning, and I bought a top for dd. It was one that she had tried on a couple of weeks ago and wanted. I had told her we would get it if it went on sale. I walked by the clearance rack this morning and found it marked down 30%, so I grabbed it. It wasn't for me, so It doesn't count against SYC, right?
I did buy some gear for myself- PJ pants and a swim cap/goggles. I'm rationalizing those as needs, especially since our move got pushed back.
Anyone else rationalizing?

I wouldn't think that buying something for your daughter would count against SYC. You have to provide as she is your child. No, I wouldn't say it is rationalizing at all.

I am currently rationalizing a dress I'm watching. It would fill a fall wardrobe hole that I actually had already listed some months ago, way before SYC fell upon me. Yes, it is jumping the gun on F/W items, but I do have that paypal return to cover it . . .
I think buying for DD is perfectly within bounds, especially since you'd already promised it should it go on sale.

Not rationalizing. SYC is Shop YOUR CLOSET.

Operative word #1: Your. Not DD's, so buying her things is not SYC. Also, kids always need clothes, so I don't think there's any problem picking up clothes for her, especially during sales.

Operative word #2: Closet. PJ's don't go in the closet. They go in drawers. So that's not SYC.

I double majored in Girl Logic and Girl Math with a minor in Linguistic Engineering. Let me know if I can ever be of service.

DD has a different wardrobe and different wardrobe needs - and you must keep her from shopping YOUR closet.

Khris, I think those were necessary purchases, you had promised your daughter and it's a health issue to protect your eyes and hair when swiming.The pj's are also important for a good night's rest. Health issues, again.

Everything justified.

Of course dd's clothes don't count. And frankly you were just being a very honest, consistent Mom so she know where she stands and can trust you. This will matter all along her lifetime but really really when she is a young adult.

Needs don't count either.
