Okay, I've been a bad girl. I got winter in my head and started gazing at long sleeved tops . . . and ended up with a total of 3 in the last week!! Yikes. But I remember feeling like I didn't have any casual tops to throw on over my jeans my last winter in Tahoe ('09-'10) and winter is usually a 6 month season at least!!

On to the confessional:

pic 1 and 2 - $15 pre owned Custo Barcelona, but can you believe I've stalked this particular shirt on and off for 4 years now??

pic 4 & 5 - $26 NWT Bray, the already debated last week 'Star Trek' shirt

Mo, I think you can totally break SYC for a shirt that's had your heart for 5 years! The others look good, too. Excited to see #3 on you.

In the spirit of confession, I duplicated my super-comfy wedge boots that make all my jeans look better. Got them in a "sand" color for like $40... not an excuse, but not terrible.

Do we have to do fashion pennance?? o_0

Seriously, I am not a fan of strict SYC unless there is a dire need behind it as it can squelch a true need. If you need fall/winter tops, I don't think there is anything wrong with economically responsible purchases. And if you have been stalking a shirt for four years, you can't pass that opportunity up.

Maybe you can rework your SYC into a very limited SYB. Seems less suffocating to me.

I really wanted to SYC since I'll likely be moving this next season and didn't want to add to what we have to pack - but is 3 shirts really going to make a difference?? Seriously though, I now have to simmer down. That Custo shirt was a total surprise that I would break any ban for, but the others didn't have to happen right now. I'm happy to have gotten them, and feel they quelched my desire for casual F/W tops. Time to breathe deeply and step away.

Rae, what should our pennance be?? No wearing of loungewear if you are at the same time buying brand new clothing that is just waiting in the closet for you? maybe?

I sent back a bunch of my NAS stuff that didn't fit and got the Frenchi blazer instead. I loved it but it smelled so I am waiting for yet another exchange... Ann Taylor pumps that were on more than 1/2 off that I've been stalking for a year. Cognac wedges to take me into the fall, though this is a replacement which I don't count against SYC. My other wedges broke.

Seriously though, I agree with what DressLover said about not being a fan of a very strict SYC; there are always reasonably-priced items that have a place in your wardrobe, whether it is actual need or a very big desire. To me, the important thing is not going overboard in buying or spending too much.

Heather, yes, I was talking about the Docs, though I don't know if they will prove to be nude. On some sites, they look almost cognac... go figure. I'll be happy either way.

And, Rae, here is the 'Star Trek' shirt lol (you know it is forever going to be called that now, don't you?!). I thought it was a touch tight across the upper arms but I suppose I could wear it almost off the shoulder (if I ever get a stupid strapless bra, that is ha). Or I could lay off the nightly push ups I've been doing In all honestly, my hair hangs across there 90% of the time anyway, so it's not really an issue, visually.

A little late to confessional. Last week I bought 2 tops, pants and a purse for my upcoming trip to Cape Hatteras NC with the hubster. Total spend: about $60 as I am on Team Cheap right now. However, the airplane travel outfit will be comfy & chic and I'll post photos later on.

Rita, sorry the wedges didn't work out - but that means you haven't broken SYC!

My other 2 shirts came. The tonal stripe brown is definitely a layer top, with its sheer strips it's not camera flash friendly!! Luckily, I don't have to worry about people taking random photos of me IRL, in normal light it's not obscene And the Custo I LOVE, no matter if it's not currently the hippest thing, being 4 or more seasons old. I know short skirts over 40 aren't for everyone, but I could *so* see myself wearing this, with maybe leggings and boots, for a night out catching a band and having drinks. (excuse the, as usual, undone hair and no make-up)

I am sufficiently ecstatic over my SYC stumbles and hope to stay the course from here on out. When I feel weak I will go put on one of my winter shirts and crank up the A/C lol!!
