I never committed to SYC, but if it helps I have bought absolutely nothing for two months (encouraging all you ladies to keep going!). Since September of 2009 I have bought 2 pair of running shoes, a pair of clogs, one sweatshirt, two pair of jeans to replace two with behind holes, and received a coat as a gift. I just realized that was a year and 6 months. Including the gift that was less than 450 dollars worth of clothing with the most expensive piece being the running shoes (100 bucks, I am addicted to expensive trail shoes) and the least being a pair of jeans I got on sale for 15 dollars. It figures out to be about 25 bucks a month spent on clothing, way less if you don't count the running shoes. Oh, I also got a pair of nice slippers as a gift, but I don't think those count, nor should yardwork sweatshirt that was a hand-me-down from my grandma (yes, I admit, I have worn it in public, no, I swear it isn't pink with crochet appliques).
Right now I am getting pretty close to the "running around naked stage". That actually may be a good thing, since I'm switching at least temporarily from being a full-time student to working this summer. Actually, I could probably go another 6 months to a year if I was allowed to wear only jeans, shorts, ts, my running shoes and flip flops. However, I may have to change my profession to beach bum or back to construction worker to do that, and I am just not willing!
