SYC - one month done :-)

I've been on SYC since I came back from NYC in the beginning of May. It's been really, really easy! Partly because May has been beyond hectic with work, birthdays, national celebration, everyday stuff etc etc And I've had lots of new stuff to try out + you are all such an inspiration!

I'll be doing SYC in June too, but I'm not all that strict about it as long as I'm sticking to SYB. If I i.e. find a pair of grey hose that I like (and sort of need because the ones I have are falling apart), I'll get them. This flexibility makes it actually less tempting to shop. I don't feel that I'm restrained. Just saving up some shopping money for whatever comes by

Anyone else on SYC/SYB in June?

I'm doing the thirty day remixing challenge, and don't plan to buy any new clothes. However, I'm allowing myself to buy shoes and/or accessories within budget because my new year's resolution was to focus on footwear and accessories and I have a pair of canvas flats that desperately need replacing. I've done a combination of SYB/SYL for the past couple of months.

Your plan seems to be working out well- kudos for one month down!

And you've done it in great style, Harmonica! I'm joining you for June, because I spent my allocated budget on shoes last month. So sitting on my hands until July... unless I get a chance to use a voucher I have lying around, or a great bargain makes itself known (tops and shoes, maybe a belt are priorities just now, and one elusive pair of smart-ish pants). What is hard is that sale season is approaching...!

I like the idea of making a short needs list and setting a budget for that. It does make it easier than a "no spending" rule.
You have done brilliantly on your SYC and really are putting together some nice outfits in the process.

I did well on SYC in May but with starting a new job I am ending that. I need some comfy shoes badly and work appropriate jeans. I did SYC to look at the jeans I already have and realized I have four pairs which will go to work well.

Way to go! I have unintentionally been syc for over two months now. I'm wondering when something will jump out at me, lol, although I have been super busy lately and haven't been doing too much shopping.

Way to go! I have been SYC/SYB all year. Sometimes I get ahead into next month and have to put the brakes on until time catches up with my spending. This is what has happened with June. So I am SYB with $20 left for June. Oh, and $15 of birthday money left Luckily, I don't really *need* anything - it's just wants.

interesting timing of this post.

first off congrats on completing a month of syc. best of luck implementing a sensible buying plan to syc/syb.

the first half of the year, i shopped like an addict looking for a fix. and i returned like an addict who sobered up the next day. overall the financial damage was not that bad, but i did feel a bit out of control. h.a.t.e.d. this feeling. even though i had insight, it was still hard to stop. then, as of two days ago, i lost the need, and i mean need, to shop. instead of obsessively trolling through online shopping sites, i've been able to just close the browser and move onto something else. like a switch flipping. very very weird. still trying to figure it out.

kudos again, for meeting your may goal. have a jubilant june.

Yay sort of SYB for past last month, hope I keep my determination strong in June too and entirely go into SYC mode. Pray for me!!!

Great that others are SYC/SYB in June too! And now it's almost half way, so thumbs up for everyone!

Seems like having a conscious mind about shopping is the key in some way or another. I also like how flexibility creates less eagerness to go shopping. I also found that waiting until the thisd week after payday is a good way to cool down. Again I'm allowing myself to shop that 3rd week within a set budget, but often I do not feel the need to shop and ends up saving the money for better items.
