I want new swimwear this summer, but I'm going to shop at a local specialty place that I'm sure maintains decent stock all year. I want to try on in person and I don't want to feel pressured that I might miss the season. It's not like I'm shopping the (mostly skimpy) designer collections anyway.
Actually, I love this place (for any Toronto area fabbers): Melmira on Yonge. They put you in a dressing room with candlelight, ask you your preferences, size you visually, and then bring you a series of suits. They also make some good suggestions: she advised me to avoid black skirted suits because they can look matronly - of course there can be exceptions but since I was buying my first post-baby suit, a skirted tankini, I wanted "sexy coverage", and I think she had a point. I ended up with one of my all-time favourite suits and wore it until chlorine wore it down (several years).
http://www.melmira.com - they also sell lingerie.
There must be online stores that carry a good selection year-round?
