Swimsuit (Yeah, it's February, I know)

So Angie said February is the best time to buy swimwear. I know, I know, but I procrastinated last year until . . wait for it . . . June!!! Before I could even wear it (wasn't warm enough here until July for the beach) and they were all sold out.

I would prefer the suit be in "bra sizing" based on my need for support, but that pretty much leaves bikinis, which I am less than sure about. Takinis never stay in place . . .

I refuse to do miriclesuits or anything else that squishes, compresses, or otherwise makes me miserable instead of letting me enjoy my very limited time at the beach with DD.

Pic #1 - I was eying up this from Nordies which is one of 3 options in my size. I would then get plain black bottoms.

Pic#2 - I love, but I doubt there would be enough support for the girls

Anyone have anyplace else they shop for swimsuits?

Those are both so pretty, Thistle. Why not order just to see? If the blue one worked it would be so wonderful for you.

I have nowhere to shop for suits...and my fit issues are sort of the opposite to yours (with no bust to speak of) but...GAH, I also need a suit!!! Thank you for that reminder.

I love love love 2!! I think I am going to hunt For something similar in my neck of woods as well. Good luck with finding your swimsuit .... Sorry I have no clue where to look!

Took your idea and ordered them both! And the first is backordered, the second is already out in my size (or, I should say, my one size up size), so I am waitlisted.

I am jealous of those with careers that let them take winter vacations.

I've bought swim suits from Lands End. I have 2 tankinis. I like them because I have a long torso, and they're comfortable. I don't know if they have bra sizing.

The go up to DDD. But, err, I need more Ds.

Are you familiar with figleaves.com and barenecessities.com?

Both have at least some tank suits in bra sizes - and you can order a ton and return what you don't like.

(I get most of my bras this way as well, since the selection in my size in stores is poor. Buy everything that might be reasonable, and then return 90%.)

As a bonus, you can try on bathing suits at home, which is much less stressful than in-store!

I like both your picks. Like Suz, I have no bust which makes finding a suit difficult. At my age I also want to show as little of my bottom as possible. No high cuts. I guess it's time to start looking.

I like the second one. I've had suits from lands end and they are great quality. I think it's Athleta that also sells suits in cup sizes, though I'm not sure how high they go up.

I need to buy a swimsuit too - haven't bought one in years. I have a long torso so that's usually my trouble with one pieces although I prefer them.

Oh, and also biggerbras.com - all of the sites that sell annoying-to-find bra sizes have some good swimwear options!

Thistle, I've had good luck with the customer service at llswim.com. You might check out the Fantasie brand swimsuits. They go up to an J cup in some styles. Hope that helps!

Thistle, I've never found a suit that comes anywhere near supporting the G/H cup boobs of wrath. I wear a simple tank suit. And under it a sports bra. Currently this one.

FWIW, I just adore the blue one. I love rucking/draping of any sort.....and I adore ombré. This hits both of my "loves". : )

biggerbras.com has a good selection.

Bigger bras only allows you to return $150 per year or 3 items, whichever comes first. So, they are not really an option unless you are very sure it is going to work for you.

They do have a lot of really interesting items, (and in my size!) but I am totally unsure of my sizing as I don't buy my bras from any of their swimwear brands.

I will see if their customer service can recommend anything.

Seems like the effect of that policy would be to keep customers from really buying a lot, doesn't it? Hmm -- interesting business model...

Hey Thistle! I love both of your choices of swimsuit! They are very different and equally fab. I noticed that you ruled out Lands End because their sizing was inadequate. Have you tried them before? I find their cup sizes don't match regular bra sizes. I'm a 34 E (DD) or 34 F (DDD) and I find that their single D-cup swimsuits are plenty big for my girls! Cheers!

I really like both options, Thistle! I hope they work for you. I've bought bra sized swimwear (DD/E) from ASOS and figleaves. Belle-Lingerie.co.uk carries it as well and I've had good luck with them for bras.

Have you tried the Freya suits at Bare Necessities? They are sized in bra sizes.

I like the stripes of #1, but call me old fashioned, I'm not a fan of bikinis. I much prefer #2. Can't address the support issue... Would have to see up close and try.

Not sure if any of their tops would work if you need more support. I like that they have scrunch-back bottoms that offer more than minimal coverage. They make the butt look very shapely

I ordered a suit there a few years ago on a whim and it fit perfect! even my Es or (DDD however we like to call them) were happy! They carry classics to designers (although you might have to close your eyes at many of the floral explosion-like suits)

I think they have the blue suit you were look at in stock. Im not sure if any are bra sized

Oh those are both so pretty! I hope one works for you. Swimsuit shopping is terrible, isn't it?

For my other delicate bust companions, I'd highly recommend this Target bikini top. It's a padded bandeau with a widely spaced little halter strap, that somehow magically makes me look a bit busty. I had to size up to a medium to avoid squishing the top of my chest (a la a strapless bra), but it makes me feel SO confident (it comes in plus sizes too! just don't know if it would have enough supportive for bigger busts, since I don't have any experience in judging that). It comes in lots of colours & prints and since it's mix and match, there are even some more modest bottom options (I got the boy shorts but I don't know if they're still for sale, as this was a year or two ago).

I like them both. The bikini might be easier to fit since you are different sizes on top and bottom. I'm long-waisted and have a hard time finding one-piece suits that I'm excited about (they're out there, they're just so boring or way too expensive). I mostly wear bikinis, although I have one tankini that I hate for the reasons you've stated - it won't stay put. I was thinking a tankini top with side ruching might stay put better but I haven't put this theory to practice yet.
