Swimsuit Recs?

Hi all. I apologize for my absenteeism! RL has been crazy busy lately. I have been lurking a bit, but not posting. I promise to remedy that soon. In the meantime, I was hoping you could help me out with some swimsuit recs! I am going on a beach vacation in a couple of weeks and need a new suit or two. I have looked at Angie's post from last year, but many of her recs are either unavailable now or very limited as far as size and color (I prefer a color other than black).

I'm looking for a tankini or a more modest bikini (i.e. bottoms are not too tiny). I am petite but fairly well endowed, so a top with underwire is preferred, although sometimes a soft cup works for me if the support is decent.

If anyone's been out there trying on suits and has some recommendations, please let me know!

I haven't tried any recreational swimwear this year, but I have been really pleased with the athletic suits that I got at Lands End- I can vouch for the quality.

Thank you! I have had Lands End suits before, and they are good quality. As I've left this so late, though, I was hoping for something I could try on in a store. I won't have time to return and reorder if something doesn't fit at this point. I suppose I could order something and then still look around in the stores, though.

Athleta (athleta.com) owns this market. Great tankini tops, and most come in "long" as well as "regular" if you don't want your tummy peeking out. Cute shorts options as well as bikini bottoms (and skirt options, too). Lots of solids/prints options.
Later in the season the reviews are helpful to make sure you buy the right size--it is mostly mail order. I am not busty, so while I have had good success getting sporty suits from Athleta, I don't have a specific recommendation.

cindy, I see you're in Washington. If it's the state and you're near the Seattle area, Sylvia's Swimwear in Seattle and Bellevue is a great place to find suits of all types. I get my lap-swimming suits there, and have friends who've bought recreational suits there. Not cheap, but good selection and salespeople.

I prefer to buy swimsuit tops that are made by a lingerie company and are sold in bra sizing. I usually get print tops and then solid bottoms to go with them. I bought a few of the miniswim skirts from lands end last year for the bottoms and Freya is my favorite for the tops. They have them at figleaves.com and barenecessities.com.

This is one of the bottoms I bought. I got a petite so it would just clear the bum.

Thanks for all the great ideas! I'll be checking out all of the online sources today. Firecracker, I probably won't be able to get to Seattle before my vacation, but that sounds like a great store.
