Sweatshirt dress

I’m browsing NAS online, in preparation for the pilgrimage... I have become very attracted to a $200 (regular price $300) sweatshirt dress. With all due respect to NAS, is a $200 sweatshirt just stoopid? I have gotten a lot of wear out of my Target one, but hello! There’s the evidence of what a sweatshirt dress maybe should really cost...

It’s also dry clean. I was intrigued, but anything that’s a “sweatshirt” in my closet needs to be washable.

The fact that it wasn't an Angie pick made me suspicious...it's cute, though. But I'm of the view that "sweatshirt" has to equal "washable."

totally cute dress....i think the sweatshirt was more a description of the styling than the fabrication....i don't think $200 is to much for a dress....

For me, it’s a mismatch of pricepoint, fabrication, and style. I love the idea of a hoodie dress, but for the weekend, and definitely washable. As much as possible, I’m moving away from dry clean, for anything other than jackets and coats, so when I read the description, I mentally said, “next.”

This is why I’m conflicted. It *is* something of a mismatch for me re. price point, fabrication, and style. I’m attracted to it for its as-stated ‘elevated style.’ But my intention would be to use it and abuse it (and also be warm without a coat!). I’m not trying to relax the look of my refined life; rather the opposite. I’m thinking it’s too delicate.

On the other hand, it’s cute!!

It’s super cute, and I think the style would suit you well, Rachylou. I wonder if you could wash it by hand or machine wash it in cold water/gentle cycle. It doesn’t say dry clean ONLY.

I think that this style of dress would do what you would like it to do in your wardrobe if it was a linen silk blend or something like that. For viscose and spandex that is very expensive and I can guarantee you that it won’t retain its shape very well if you don’t dry clean it.

I was tempted too, Rachy, as I’ve wanted a sweatshirt dress for a long time, but I agree that it’s too spendy for what it is. (Plus I decided I would rather have a leather jacket for the same price!). I’d love to see it on someone though.
