Temps dropped 30 degrees in a matter of hours here — it was over 75 at one point yesterday, and 45 this morning when I woke up! So sweater weather is coming...
I have been keeping my eye out for one or two new patterned sweaters to refresh the old collection, and I was surprised to see that I’d edited out most of the grey from my patterned pieces, so these two appealed to me. Necklines this year are not my favorite, but I was surprised to see that this more open funnel-neck type of mock turtleneck is not bad on me (I do not like the close-fitting mock necks — they emphasize everything about my neck that needs no emphasis).
These are from Marshall’s — since knitwear is so inconsistent in quality these days, I find that I am happier not pouring a ton of $ into it, so the discount stores can yield some interesting finds if you have the patience to flip through the racks with a discerning eye. The first one is by Max Studio and is very soft and comfy. I am a fan of houndstooth so I’m pretty sure this is a keeper. The second one is by Christian Siriano and I love the pattern on it, but there is a slight chance it may be itchy. I’m going to try it around the house for a while with a thin layer underneath. It’s also a little chunkier and warmer, which I don’t always need, but I’ve weeded almost all my old chunky sweaters out of my wardrobe.
Thoughts? Opinions?
ETA: I’m trying these on with the velvet teal AG jeans I got at Anthro — the color does not show up well in pics, but I think I like them. I feel like they’re a little short but I think a high camp bootie helps fill the gap. I’m including a couple of photos I took with the black top I wore yesterday that I think show the fit/color a little better. The SA wanted me to go down a size but I thought that was too tight.
