I finally Dryel-ed my swap meet finds from the past month. Is there anything that I should toss straight away? I am usually more decisive, but it's so hot and non-conducive to extensive styling efforts right now. -_-

1-2 Kay Unger evening dress. I *feel* like a ballerina... do I look like a stumpy linebacker?

3 Turquoise polka dots. Good for work?

4-5 Analogy jacket and Cache skirt... is the skirt too short? Or am I just used to midis now?

6- Silence & Noise plaid blazer

7- Talbots wool herringbone skirt

8 - Red plaid pencil skirt & pink Ann Taylor shell

9 - Splendid thermal... probably good for layering in the fall

10-11 Photoprint floral top and Joe's Thunder jeans. I like the little leather pulls and the weird zippers on these jeans, and they are very comfy. Keep? The top isn't my best color, but maybe it can go under jackets when it gets cooler?

#6 is my favorite of the haul I'm looking for one just like it!

As for your ballerina question - can you twirl in it? Is it a heavy skirt, or light?

I don't care for #7 so much, and the neckline of #3 isn't my favoite, but none of these are 'bad', it's just a matter of personal taste, I think. The dress is all ballerina, no linebacker!

OMG, 1/2 and 3 are just KILLING me!! SO. FAB!!!

The only thing I would change is that I would probably shorten skirt #7. I'm just not feeling this particular skirt in the midi length. But other than that it's all stellar times a million!!

Wow - what a haul! May I go shoppping with you sometime? I'm serious - you come up with the most amazing things! I think you really scored on ALL of these - the ballerina dress is beautiful on you! I agree with MaryK on #7 - I'd shorten it. I also have a little bit of doubt about the length of the skirt in 4/5 - I LOVe the color, but are young women still wearing them that short to the office? I'm not in that environment anymore, so I just don't know! LOVE the jeans!

My favorite is the skirt and top in #8. The skirt is a great midi/longer length for fall, and so flattering. I also like the ballerina dress (1-2), the blue print jacket (in 4-5), and the basic Splendid top (9). The Joe's jeans are cute too but the leather hanging things would get to me after a while. I suppose you could cut them off though.

I find 7 and 8 a bit dated, not the fit, but the pattern..

Wow! I love 3 it's just gorgeous. I don't love the skirts in 7 and 8, however that is more of a reflection of my preferences... They do look nice on you. All else looks great.

Not a fan of 7 but not sure why. My eye isn't good enough to tell whether shortening would change the look on you.

Simply fantastic pieces. The ballerina is so gorgeous on you. Hope you find somwhere to wear it.

You are a terrific model for all of these. I love 1-3 especially. Agree with others and am not a fan of #7 as is. The blue skirt seems a bit short (although your figure and youth can handle it), but maybe with tights and flats or boots it wouldn't seem so much?

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE 3 and 8! Those are my top picks of the lot.

I'm really not feeling jacket 4/5 or skirt 7, but I'll bet you'll find a killer way to style both pieces. I don't think the blue skirt is too short. I like the idea of boots and tights for winter.

Marley, I would LOVE to shop with you!! I'm serious if you are! I see what you mean about 4-5... the dress code says 3" above the knee. I should try it with tights and see what happens.

1/2 is so fun, but I might like it better if it was just a bit shorter.

The only things I don't like are the Kay Unger dress and the jacket in 4. They both look kind of dated.

I really love everything except for the blue zip-up jacket in 4-5 (looks a bit dated to me). I love the ballerina dress, but think hemming it just a pinch might make it even more perfect. I actually like the houndstooth midi skirt. I think it works well with your style and I could see you styling it fabulously for work. Agree that the royal blue skirt might be a little short for work. It's funny: it is just right above your knee, which would seem fine in general, but somehow it seems a bit short...Something about the proportions...

The polka dotted dress is really the TDF item in this bunch, IMO. It's fantastic on you, looks so fresh and modern, and will be perfect for work! What a haul.

Hi Rae! I think all of the items you've selected look terrific.
Re fab frock 1-2: I really LIKE the shoulder effect- you have a nice shoulder line, and a little shoulder emphasis sets off your waist really nicely. I do have a reservation about frock 3: gorgeous fabric and pattern, but sadly I think the silhouette of this is unnecessarily blocky and square (unlike the shapely ballerina gown 1-2!) due to the cut of the top half. Have you got a white or coloured jacket/bolero to wear over, which would add some curve and shoulder into the upper silhouette?
Re the blue miniskirt 4-5-6: some people have a natural affinity for miniskirts, owing to their sensational legs, and you're one of them. Many of us can only dream of looking as good as you do in a short skirt. Why hide your assets? if in doubt, bring on the leggings, tights and boots.
Re skirts 7 and 8: these are quite structured and retro, and need statement coordinates to look balanced - (in the pics, the bare legs and casual tops are throwing the look off) - but they would look very now with Mad Men dressy blouses, blazers and coloured or patterned tights.
Re top 10-11: the neckline of the top could be a little high for you, (but that might just be the photo angle). Definitely try under a jacket or cardy first.

You have a great haul there! I can see every piece fitting into an outfit nicely.

The Kay Unger would look so cute with a cropped denim or cropped leather over it also. The polka dot will be good for work and you can put cardis of all sorts of colors over it for AC.

The Analogy jacket fits you to a T, but I agree that the skirt length looks less professional. The S&N jacket seems too big or too long.

Skirt #7 is my least fave,#8 is a better look IMHO, but I know you could make it look fab in an outfit!

The last pieces seem like they'll all fit into your wardrobe nicely - I can so see you wearing the thermal top with your denim shorts. . .

I want to come shopping with you too we have nothing like any swap meets around here and they look fun. . .

What a fabulous haul! The jacket in #4 reminds me of the shape of the Halogen tween jacket from NAS. You might be able to belt yours for a different look. (Imagine the jacket below worn open.)

Because you are young and midi skirts are new, I don't think anything is too long. As far as the blue skirt, you look great in the short length too but it is probably too short for work without tights. Is there a bit of hem that could be let out? I'm noticing that zippered jackets seem to be reappearing, so the jacket in 4/5 may look fine in a few months, especially when worn open.
My favorite is the polkadot dress. If you decide not to keep it, please send it my way. BTW, we went to see Harry Potter yesterday. In front of us were a group of 20-something young women all wearing cute frocks. One had on a dress much like your polkadot one only with black dots on white and a bit shorter. It was a treat to see these girls dressed in sundresses on a sweldering day.

Wow, what a nice haul. I love the polka dot dress, super cute on you, and the dressy ballerina dress is killer too. I actually find the skirts 7 and 8 to be classic especially love 8. The blue skirt looks a little short to me but you are young and can pull that off.

This is a fun collection! You will have fun styling all these pieces. My first reaction was - can you wear #6 jacket (are the sleeves a touch long?) over the print top in #10-11?

The blue plaid jacket is my least favorite - not quite up to your current sharp look. The skirts in #7-8 are beautiful on you, but the blue one does look short. Maybe you could pair the blue one with matching tights to extend the visual effect?

The dotty dress is very cute, but I agree it could use a jacket. Maybe flat sandals, a denim or linen crop jacket or vest, summery scarf? Take it down to casual?

All in all, a great haul!

Ooh lots of great stuff! You have amazing patience to find these pieces, Rae! My thoughts: #3 (dotty dress) stands out immediately, keep keep! Pair with boots and rugged it up I really like the "short" bright blue skirt in #4-6 BUT with tops tucked in because the waist band is a bit lower. Great plaid skirt in #8. The jeans in #10/11 fit well, but are they flats length? I feel like they'd look best with a bit of heel. To me the rest "OK but not Amazing."

I agree with Rute that I find the skirts in 7/8 a little dated looking, although shortened and/or styled differently they could work. I am not in love with the blue jacket either, something about the shape and the high neckline seems old-fashioned. The dresses are adorable and I like the earth-toned top on you.

Carole, I forgot to answer you! The Dryel set works great for me - the spot remover they include seems like it'll get anything out, and the Dryel sheets/bag do make me feel like the items are getting clean. I ignore the direction and throw in as many items as will tumble freely when I put in the dryer. The moisture from the sheets creates a nice steam/sauna effect inside the bag, freshening and disinfecting. If an item ever gets really *dirty* - like with sweat or more than a couple spots - I'd probably go for a real dry clean. But my dry-clean-only clothes never really go through the wringer like that.

I actually kind of like the skirt in 7, but not with that top/style. Maybe an untucked top with a skinny belt would be cute? With the height of the skirt and that particular top, I feel like we're not seeing your small waist.
