This is the topic that we discussed here before. I’m hoping to get more information from the Forum members that I can try to implement. This is not a place to judge or blame anyone for their habits, there is no place for it anywhere on this forum, IMO. So, I appreciate if you, ladies, share your experience and opinions as I’m going to share mine as well as my struggles.

What works for me:
1. I do my absolutely best to avoid buying polyester. I bought a few pieces for gym and swimming, minimal amount. I wear the same things for yoga that I wear to a gym. Also, there is no escaping poly in outwear like puffers. I also avoid if possible mixed fibers, acrylic is the #1.
2. I considerably reduced the clothes I donate. When I donate anything, I put in only things in like new condition. If I don’t want to wear something due to fading, looking worn out, then why anyone would want it? I would rather put my DH’s worn out shirt into a garbage myself. At least I know it’s cotton and biodegradable. I don’t know any places that collects rugs. We try to reuse as much as we can. All rags in our home are old t-shirts or kitchen towels. I keep some old bedding to use as a drop cloth to protect furniture and floor when we paint rooms in our house. I know it’s not a greatest idea but yes, I sometimes downgrade my regular clothes to wear it around the house like old knitwear or t-shirts, jeans.

What doesn’t:
1. I try to resell things that are in a pristine condition like if it’s still have tags or only was worn no more that a couple of times. I have done it before on Facebook but now have a hard time. A couple of things I posted are in a low price range and from well known brands and still no offers. I never bought anything on EBay and don’t think I have time to commit to sell things there. Next step is to try consignment stores. Wish I had women in my life who wear the same size.
2. Buying from sustainable brands. Honestly, I don’t have time to invest into investigating brands practices. I also have to keep in mind that they have be affordable enough, easy with returns and close to my aesthetic. Example - Everlane. I buy from them but not much, I feel their quality and style often don’t meet my expectations. EF is close but only on sale, sizing and style might be an issue more than COS, for example. But I try and keep this aspect in mind when shop.
3. The main struggle is not to shop as I love, love clothes! Reducing the amount I buy puts more pressure on my decision process. How much I love it? Is it versatile enough? Will I regret letting it go? I feel like I analyze everything to death. FOMO is a big issue for me. I think it will only get resolved once I retire and will have to adhere to my limited budget.

Thank you for reading , it’s already a novel please, share you strategies and experience.
