Superbowl plans?

I will start by saying I cannot bear American football, never watch it, and don't much care which team does what.

This year, however, Little Mr. A's team (go Birds!) is playing so of course I'll be pleased on his behalf if they win.

We no longer have cable tv so can't watch Puppy Bowl XIX on Discovery, but it seems some of the streaming services will carry it and I must root for the 9 Connecticut dogs competing. Go Twinkle - those eyes! https://www.ctinsider.com/ente.....656777.php

I love to watch it for the commercials, they’re usually very entertaining. Also, I’m looking forward to Rihanna at half-time. She slays me every time. Of course, I’ll be switching over to the Puppy Bowl, too. Good luck with your Connecticut doggies!

We watch it every year! We make nachos and chicken wings, drink beer (non-alcoholic for us though!), and watch it on the projection screen in our basement. It used to be so exciting for the kids to eat treats for dinner in front of the TV, but this year they are ditching us *sob* ... but we shall perservere and hope the food tempts them for at least a little portion of the game.

Love Rihanna and can't wait to see her performance. I am on team KC because I love Patrick Mahomes!

I only watch the GAME when the Seattle Sea Hawks are in the final!

We always watch the half time show, though

Guacamole and tortilla chips are on hand....

I grew up in KC and my family had seasons tickets for as long as I can remember. For the most part I can take or leave sports. But it is fun to have a team that you can route for!

DH is a Cowboys fan - so some sadness here that they didn’t go all the way this year. Personally not a big fan, but DH will watch for the commercials. We’ll have pigs in blankets to snack on.

Super Bowl Sunday used to be a fabulous day to go shopping at the mall. No crowds. DH usually watches.

We are invited to friends’ for the first time in quite a while (another friend used to host a small get together but it was losing steam even prepandemic). The point is very much the food and spectacle rather than the game in which I have zero interest (who’s playing again ?). Our hostess is making her famous Super Bowl Chili with Fritos and I will bring dill pickle dip. Some beer will be consumed - current obsession is a local brewery trying to emulate Pilsen, Czechia’s famous Pilsner Urquell as it’s brewed locally in small batches (not the mass produced export version) which is something my husband and experienced on our honeymoon. Sooo not much of this is about football for me

Ha Ms. Maven, my mom and I used to go to the mall on Superbowl Sunday too No One was there- it was great!

We haven't had a TV in probably 15 years at this point, and can't imagine having the patience to watch an entire game. I do like Rhianna, so eventually I'll watch her performance on You Tube. Maybe I'll look at a bit of the Puppy and Kitten Bowls too, or any commercials that get a lot of buzz. I rarely even watch You Tube, so it could be weeks before I bother to look at any of it!

I’ve been convinced to buy a tv, meant to do so during the sales leading up to the Super Bowl, but the instigator hasn’t taken me up on suggestions to go get one together.

I grew up loving US football. Went to the high school games on Fridays, watched college games Sat on tv and NFL on Sunday, and playing with boys in the neighborhood and at recess. Then I grew up and learned how ugly it is to the players and many other people involved. If I watch these days, it is generally with people as conflicted about it as me. Today I’m not planning to watch at all.

Puppy Bowl - go Team Fluff! Final score: 87-83, Fluff v. Ruff.

ETA: Mr. A, MD, refuses on principle to watch football. He used to be CEO of WebMD, and years ago they awarded their "Health Heroes" prize to Dr. Bennet Omalu, credited for naming "Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy" among football players.

I gather Dr. Omalu has had some problems since then, but it still seems wrong to watch people getting harmed, for sport.

Now, the Puppy Bowl, on the other hand - no head trauma, and the scantily clad cheerleaders just seem like naturally jumpy pups in skirts.

We watch exclusively for the commercials and occasionally the halftime show. No cable, so no pet bowls for us. It is one of the rare occasions I make homemade guac and we have appetizers for dinner.

I'm a much bigger baseball fan than football, and once my hometown team is out of the running, I generally don't care a lot (but I'll always root against the Steelers, LOL). But one of my BFFs is a big Eagles fan, and I feel some kindred spirit with Philly as a fellow nearby east coast city denizen. So we watched with a good carry-out crab cake dinner, and chips and guac. Hubs bought us ice cream and pop-tarts (!) for halftime dessert.

It was a good game, with a sucky ending, and the state of that field was just awful. The commercials were underwhelming at best, with the exception of the two dog-themed commercials (Farmer's Dog made me want to go get some of their food), Dave Grohl and the rock stars, and Ben Affleck working at Dunkin. And I give a nod to any commercial that dares to include Tuco Salamanca.

The halftime show was great. I'm not even a Rihana fan, but I really enjoyed it. Refreshing that there was minimal bare skin for a female performer for a change. Loved the backup dancers, and the platforms were awesome.

Janet, I (secretly) would always root for the Steelers over the Eagles, having lived in Steelers Country during the Steelers/Pirates heyday of the late 1970s. RIP, Franco Harris.

Farmer's Dog is great! Bodie loves it. Not sure it's financially practical for multiple dog families or families with an enormous breed, but for one small dog, we're very pleased.

Did not see even a moment of the game but watched Puppy Bowl XIX. Go Team Fluff.

Yes - surprising (and grateful) how toned-down the commercials were this year - no bathroom humor, etc. But no Clydesdales (unless I missed it)!

The rock stars commercial tickled my fancy.
